So I just bought a 91 integra with a built B20 with a t3/t4 turbo setup. It is tuned at 8psi. Whenever I drove it normal out of boost it wouldnt smoke but whenever I boosted it, it would blow a little bit of blue smoke. Then one day it started smoking really bad all the time so I went home and parked it. Well I blew the seal on the exhaust side of the turbo. So I was looking around on the net for info about this and everyone says to run an oil restrictor with a honda. I bought a .060 restrictor and put it on. Bought a new rebuild kit for the turbo, no more shaft play and everything was good. I put the car back together and started it and there was no smoke and then as soon as I started driving it the smoke came back just as bad, I couldnt even see behind me it was that bad. So I ordered a 360 degree turbine seal from this saab performance site. I put it on and drove the car and it did the same thing again. If anyone knows why I keep blowing these seals it would be helpfull. It has one of those cheap ebay turbo’s on it, but I drove it around for 3 weeks without a restrictor on it before the first seal blew. I’m just confused.
You sure it’s these Seals going bad? Have you done a compression test lately?
what about ur oil lines??? how big are they how much oil psi are u running
If he has an Oil Restrictor it wouldn’t matter.
I took the turbo completely off. Now its just a NA built b20. It smoked for a little bit but I think that was just the oil burning out of the exhaust. Now it doesnt smoke at all. It looks like there is oil coming out from around the headgasket area, I think it is running a little hotter than it should. I just dont understand why the turbo keeps blowing seals. I had -4an lines on it with a .060 restrictor.
Maybe your oil is not draining properly, this will cause a back up on oil and oil will leak past the turbine seal.
what type of turbo was it BB or FB?
change to a -3 without restrictor
What size oil drain should I be using. It has a 3/4 inch piece of hose now.
Make sure theres no tight bends in the line. Do you have a pic of where you tapped the oil pan?
I rescaned your op you say you have a T3/T4 which brand is it?

It has one of those cheap garrett knock offs. I took everything off. It isnt going back on until I can get a good quality turbo. What are some good turbo brands. The only ones I know of is Garrett of course and turbonetics. I want to stick with a T3/T4 because thats what it is tuned for. I really dont have the 600+ dollars to spend on a new Garrett turbo, does anyone know of others that are good quality but a little cheaper. I’m kinda new to this turbo stuff, but what kind of oil does everyone run with their turbo setup.
I use joe Gibbs oil 10w 30
As for a turbo get a hy or hx35 holset you can get one for 200 to 350.
