i accidently put the BSPT pipe adapter on the back of the T with the sending unit and threaded the T directly into the block, i used thread tape and everything, is this going to cause a problem? i dont think i should remove it because its already been threaded and redoing it might just be worse? what should i do? thanks alot
what u need to do is mount the sender on the firewall and run a nylon tube to it. I did this for my electric oil pressure gauge. Now its a electric/mechanical gauge, lol
i would buy a tap and die set just in case lol
well i figured that since i already threaded it on i mine as well leave it. if i back out the npt and try to screw in the bpst again it will probally just make the threads to weak and be even worse then if i just leave it now.
ps. also im not going to run a seperate tube to the T, im only running the stock oil sending unit which is not heavy at all and i couldnt see it breaking easily. i would only run that way if a had a heavier unit on the end like for a gauge.
I’ve seen people but BSPT and NPT side on the block and they didn’t have any problems at all.
As for your case, if it’s not leaking, you might as well leave it for now.
I thought u had a gauge sending unit, a stock dummy light sending unit will be fine
i dont understand what you did wrong? isnt the stock gauge unit bspt, so if you put a bspt fitting into it then it should be fine, or is the T that you threaded straight into it have an npt fitting on it and thats your problem? Either way it should be ok, i believe that the difference between npt and bspt is somewhere along the lines of 1 thread per inch, so as long as you used some teflon tape, it should hold up just fine. I would be more concerned with the weight of that sending unit breaking the T off into the block
u might want to get rid of that teflon thread tape… Idk what people say it, but breaks down with heat and if u are running a restriction in ur oil line to keep a constant good flow to the turbo it can get cloggeed by the teflon and smoke ur turbo.
I just used a dab of honda-bond (permatex grey) on the clean threads and tightend em up
i put thread-lock on all of my turbo oil lines, it is like a putty.
For my oil pressure i ran it off the T at the turbo. I am worried about what my turbo is getting, not what the rest of my motor is (my turbo > my motor)
