oil pressure send unit vs. oil pressure gauge

I am teeing off the block and i have one outlet for my feedline and the other for either the sending unit or oil pressure gauge. I already have the gauge but im not sure where to go from here. opinions or facts needed

if i remember reading on hear a while back when ur stock oilpressure light goes on its a lil too late for ur motor. when goin to turbo u have the send and return lines, that where a possible leak can happen. so going with an external guage would be a wise choice. i have one installed stewart warner.

there is a thread here or on honda tech about how to properly install an oil pressure gauge. T-ing of the block might not be the best idea unless you have an extra block sitting around or know a good welder.

Just curious to why you say that?

there was a thread that descirbed how to correctly install this. Without seaching and from what I can recall the proper way is to put a fitting on the block and run a line with a loop (for some give when the engine shifts in the engine bay yes your engine does move) in it to a T on the firewall. If you just put a brass T on the back of the block there is a chance that it will break off. I’m sure people are going to reply to my reply with “i’ve been running a T off my block for 300 years with no issues blah blah blah…” I’ll try to dig up the old thread.

OK I thought that was what you were talking about. It’s definitely a better way to do it, but I just did the traditional tee off the block. I’m sure it could happen, but I haven’t scene any first hand proof that convinced me to go through the extra work. As with most things, it comes down to preference and how comfortable you are with things you do.

The nonconventional method is awesome, and it makes sense. I am def doing it that way.

Ebay sells sandwhich plates for hondas for like $25 and they are bling bling titanium grey! they have 3 1/8 outlets so you don’t even have to mess with the stock sender. You can have Oil PSI, Oil Temp, and Oil Supply to your turbo. They don’t leak, I know cuz I have one with an autometer oil psi gauge installed

where?? is this one? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Oil-Cooler-Sandwich-adapter-plate-for-4-cylinder-engine_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33613QQitemZ8007620872QQrdZ1. I took a look but wasn’t sure what to type in search. if it’s that cheap I wouldn’t mind getting one.
