One piece headlight H4H adapter for H4 LED bulbs

Sorry for the delay with this. I am in the middle of switching positions and have been without computer access for a bit.

I have feedback from DaMenace, but not from typer_da. I’ll try to summarize things and get it on here ASAP.

I have a friend that still has his 91 Integra from when he bought it in 1998 when we both bought 2G Integras. I sold mine in 2010. Anyway, It has the one piece headlights. He has always had to rig a way to hold the bulb in place. I used to have to do the same thing on my integra too. This H4H adapter sounds really awesome. I have a 3D printer that prints ABS quite well. Would you be willing to send me the STL file? I can be a tester and work on tweaking the design for different bulbs if you wish? I would agree to any conditions you may have. Look forward to hearing back!

Hey @Daves thanks for your interest.

This could be a possibility because I’m all for helping the community - but you would have to sign a doc that states you cannot modify and/or commercialize the model.

Do you know what bulbs he currently has? I need to get a list going.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get any more feedback besides DAMenace. I have plans to work on this and test fit next weekend (~12Apr).

I’ve been thinking about this a lot recently, I think that ABS might not be the best material for the job due to the head output of the LEDs. I think a nylon or more engineering grade plastic should be better but obviously would need to be tested.

The other issue I see is that most good LED bulbs are either high or low beams. The dual emmiters are positioned such that depending on where the emitter ends up in the housing is going to dramatically change how they perform and how much scatter they give to other drivers (read police).

I would love to figure a solution out as the H4H bulbs are crazy hard to find now. (not that they were that easy 30 years ago).

---- As I was working on this post I got notification that Diode Dynamics is releasing a H4 bulb finally! I am a Diode dealer and they make some amazing LEDs, I’m going to ask my rep if I can get on the list for first dibs. Then I can work on an adapter that hopefully puts the emitters in the correct location.

So I have the 9004? LEDs in the USDM housing. They work amazingly well with the high and low config. Aiming and light dispersion is great. I was thinking the same for H4H given that the one piece headlight housing also has the diffraction lines.

I have already looked into higher temp filament for these but have not purchased. The bulbs I use also have on-board cooling fans so perhaps that helps. But yeah, only testing will tell for sure

To be clear the 9004 bulbs suck in the clear housing aftermarket headlights. I wish there was a projector bulb that could be used with those, but it would require extensive modifications.
