open compressor temporarly ?

hey guy, i’m close to being done with my turbo project and i will drop my oil pan to the welder tomorrow. I dont have my chip burner yet so i cant put in my 450cc injectors.
QUestion: Can i run the car with open compressor for a few days, so i wont have any boost in my intake ?
of course this imply a tremendous spin from the turbo since the wastegate is never open but i’ll be kind on the pedal for that period of time…

ive heard that can ruin the turbo, but i think what you could do hook up a charge pipe to the turbo and then block it off so you build pressure in the chargepipe and run the vaccuum source to the compressor from the wastegate so it will build pressure and then the wastegate will open up really quick, but make sure what you block it off with has some kind of hole in it to vent off some of the pressure, it may or may not work im not sure, someone else can verify

if u dont stomp on the pedal and shift real early u wont build boost. So connect ur chargepipes u motor wont see much or if any positive pressure. how do i know? i have done it drive around with no boost the most u get is about 0 inHG. here’s a ? do u have a boost guage. if not dont drive car

yes i do have a boost gauge, but right now vacuum reading below 10 in HG is wrong. When i cruise it says 10inHg (normal) but at idle it says 16, and with a real vacuum gauge, reading is 22…

ok then i think its safe to drive it like that, i just have to be carefull for these few days…

when im idle im at 22inHG 1250rpm. yeah crusing is about 16inHG. ur boost guage is wrong. 10inHG at idle would mean ur running real lean about above 18:1. u shoudnt drive ur car yet if u dont know what ur afr’s r at idle and when ur driving

my boost gauge reads 30inhg at idle yet goes up normal when i get on the throttle… what could cause this?

hum i think stock spec is 27mmHg at idle

take out the wastegate spring so you cant boost

wooo, smartest answer up to now !! thanks xeno
