opinions on turbo b20v

Well my brother-in-law and I have decided that we wanted to start a motor build, he has his mind set on doing b20vtec boosted and he set his goals on 600hp. My question, with money not being an issue, do you guys think this is do-able? and what do you guys think about the Brian Crower 2.2 stroker kit boosted on the b20v which was my idea? thanks in advance

I have never seen a B20 block handle 400+ hp without serious mods, the sleeves crack too easily, however, I have many friends with Sleeved GSR Blocks putting down in excess of 600hp.

Better question, why 600hp? Unless this is a purpose built drag car, you will probably never get that to the ground anyway. That will easily put you in mid to low 10 second land with proper suspension and driving.

Rob91DA has got a point, the sleeves on the B20 are too weak for high boost levels to acheive power numbers like that. B20/VTEC is best for an N/A build-up. Check and research, but a sleeved B18 is a safer route.:read:

just like they said b20’s sleeves are very weak.

If you have the block already u can send it out and have it resleeved to I think 86mm. The BC stroker kit is just a waste of money when stock cranks have been pushed for years and have made over 700+hp

if you dont have the block yet pick up a gsr block resleeve it to 84mm and use the LS crank

our plan is to have a purpose built dragster and we wanted to keep it a honda, it’s his goal for 600hp, my goal was actually set at 400hp, yeah i figured the b20 sleeves were weak, but wanted your opinions. and we do plan on droppin’ major coin on the motor, as i stated earlier money is not an issue. thanks for your thoughts and yes i already have the b20 on hand

i really want to know what happens with this build as i was thinking going b20/vtec and maybe boost or supercharge it later on so good luck with your build

B18b will be a much better option for you then the b20, I had my old b20 turbo’d and if I did it again I would stick with a b18b, I was scared half to death everytime I boosted in the 20…

“with money not being an issue”
What’s to discuss?
Common guys…

if money’s not an issue

I would honestly do a Sleeved GSR Block, 84mm bore, Custom Crank, Custom Cams, etc, if you are serious about building this thing, give the boys at Full-Race.com a call, they have been partial sponsors on some of my buddies 600hp+ hondas. They all run GSR Blocks, GT35R or larger snails and run consistance high 10second passes.

That would be enough for must people, but some of them are full interior cars and all are daily driven to work and around town.

I’ll be happy in the 250hp range for now with my LS/Vtec.

Custom Crank = fail most if not all non OEM honda cranks have issues and snap in half on the pulley side. A B20 block sleeved to 86 with a built p8r or even a built LS head will out run a gsr with the same mods and less boost.

side note not to be a dick Full race makes good manifolds and has very good R&D but to be honest all there big power cars never make it out the 10sec range if your making 600+ you should be faster then that even with full interior.

^^^ Sleeve a B20. I run a B20 with a P8R head and can outrun, well lots of stuff. Only downfall to the B20 to me is the Lack of RPMS it can take. After all tho, I got TQ. And Tq OWNS.

if your going all out power, look past that GT35R. go get the borg warner S372… some serious power
