Phantisy's DA9 Build

Great there is an SI rack 12 miles from me. Guess I will be picking that up soon.

car looks great man - hellava project !

ive gotta do the same conversoin for the PS rack, i have no PS pump, but the rack is the ps rack and let me tell you…fu*ker is hard to drive at slow speeds hahah (granted not driving it at all at the moment as it will not start SOB)

o and how easy is it to remove the ABS? its the only thing i left in that i wish i could have torn out!

looks great man keep it up:manual:

Well the ABS was easy to remove since I have no motor in the way  but you gotta replace the lines with manual lines. When you remove it there is a grenade looking thing mounted down on the frame on the passenger side behind the radiator. That thing is pressurized so be careful when you go to remove that. I didn’t know and that bitch sprayed fluid all over me and the car lol. mgs1098 sales kits for it and his thread is over Here… Hopefully my kit is on its way

Thanks for the moral support. I love working on this car and I almost cant sleep at night because I wanna go out and keep working on it lol…

I would read this document on removing the PS system. It tells you a few pieces to remove that make it super easy to turn when your barely moving. I did this in my daily driver and love it but cant wait to test out the SI rack once my project car is drivable :).

I am going to pick up the 91 SI rack. Will the SI cross member holding the rack bolt on the DA or should I not even worry about that?

Anyone know if the SI cross member for the steering rack will bolt on? I would like to know before I pay for this guy to send me everything.

I did manage to get everything out except the incoming fuel line. I tried like hell to get the metal piece off but no luck. Engine bay is just about empty other then a few hard lines running in I don’t think I will remove before it gets shaved and painted.

why not use photobucket for pics yo

has his own server. and Neil wants us to use the forum’s uploading feature to prevent important pics from being lost.

No idea lol… I will try to get them moved over I guess in case the server is down “like right now”

[QUOTE=G2guru;2014144]Quick comments:

The rack swap isn’t that difficult. I would say a 4 out of 10 scale.

Pulling all of the power steering lines with the motor in the car sucks. I made use of my angle grinder to get the hard lines out. If you are not sure if you will like the CRX rack, wait to pull the lines until you drive it for a bit. You can always go back to PS if you find the manual rack is too hard. I thought it was a first, but now I love it.

Use DA inner and outer tie rods. Only thing EF should be the rack itself.

Shimming the rack is not dangerous at all. It would be wise to use a longer bolt on the shimmed side (I did).

My car is daily driven and on twisty roads to and from work. :manual:

At first I bought a CRX Si manual rack. It was good but a little too sloppy for me. I also wanted to do the Quaife quick rack as well and it only fits the non-Si manual EF rack. So I purchased the HF rack and sold the Si unit. I still haven’t gotten the Quaife quick rack kit, but I’m thinking about it. I like the HF rack better than the Si rack anyway. A bit firmer.

I saw your question about what rack to get so I pulled this off another thread to help answer your question.

I’ll be watching your build man, good luck!

Thanks for the info. I actually already knew all that but I am in need of knowing if the cross member bolts in so I know if I should buy it with the rack or not. Still not sure about the SI or HF rack though. I am sure someone will have the info on the cross member before I actually buy the rack. thanks again though.

Well today I got some OEM goodies from FEDEX.

Shift Rod Boot
Bitch Pin
Hood Rod Grommet
Hood Rod Holder
Tail Light Gaskets
Tail Light Nuts

Pictured below

Well the server I had all my pics on died and had to be restored from a back up. Due to my laziness and lack of backing up I lost all my pics lol… Oh well. I can take more as things stand now. Time for an imageshack account I guess so I don’t lose my pics…

Today I pretty much finished my wire tuck. Got a couple questions if anyone can help answer them. Just about ready to put the inside of the car back together. Once I get a few body parts I will tow it to get painted by a friend. Probably going to work on shaving the holes til I can tow the car for paint. Going with the factory 91 black paint whatever it is called. Got the paint code so I will get paint to match.

  1. Where is the tegtip page like before with the drop down boxes? I need the hood release cable thread and for some reason I am retarded and can’t find it.

  2. Can I use the 91 CRX SI cross member or do I need to mount the CRX rack to the DA cross member? I have not got one yet because I am still waiting to find this out.

  3. Can I use a 4dr wiper switch on my 2dr since I removed my rear wiper?

  1. Neil hasn’t gotten to fix that part of the forum yet
  2. EF rack mounts to the DA subframe
  3. Not sure on that one. Good idea, so if you can get ahold of one, Midas well try it

Thanks for the help. I know the rack mounts to the DA sub frame but I was wonder if I could just swap the EF rack and sub frame of if I could only use the rack.

If anyone has a 4dr wiper switch they wanna send me I will try it out:)

Cant really finish the driver side wire tuck til I found out how to re-route the hood cable.

The part numbers are similar, but I don’t work for Honda so I can’t say for sure that they interchange. But if nothing is wrong with your DA subframe, I’d leave it, unless you’re getting it powdered.
DA- 50200-SK7-A54
EF- 50200-SH9-A00
As for the hood release, you just route that through the frame rail. BLKACK’s wire tuck thread might have some pictures, I think

Well some of the paint has come off the subframe and it has a little surface rust. Guess I can take it out and get it powdered or repaint it. Guess I will just keep whats in it and just get the rack

Well here is the update to my build. I know im gonna be hated on but I am doing a K swap in the car. I am going with the K24A2 bottom and the K20Z1 top. I am currently in the process of building the motor and should have it done soon. I will be using the Hasport mount kit. Just thought I would let you know whats up with everything on this build. Was put on hold for a while due to family and work but now everything seems to be back on track.

thats sick !!! Good luck bro !!! oh and how about some teaser pics ?? hahahaha !!

Wouldnt be much to show. I stripped down the block today though. Going to get a shop to look at it to see if it needs any work on the block or crank. If not I will be building it up. I did just order the 91 K Swap mount kit from Hasport though

Here is a pic of that if that is satisfying enough for you lol
