PIC request HID retrofit

how did you seal the bottom of your headlights after cutting it for the solenoid??

I haven’t yet. I’m going to use small plastic boxes and some kind of plastic epoxy. I wish I could have gotten them to work without cutting the housing, but I didn’t like the placement of the projectors in the reflector without lowering it.

yeah i can understand that.

Damn everything looks really nice! I am hoping to have my harness installed wedsnesday when I am off from work. Also have to reinstall an amp in my fiance car and do my brakes so it is going to be a long day. I would suggest a test fit without the clear lens on the housing before you seal them and install. I did notice because of how the lights mount you may want to adjust the projectors left or right to get the right amount of light in front of you. You don’t want the cross eyed or opposite. That is the only thing I need to redo when I open them back up and make a cover and install shrouds.

Yeah, aiming them on the car is important to get the right beam pattern. I’m impatiently waiting for a chance to use my dad’s work to aim them. I need the ground to be perfectly level so I’m holding out on my adjusments until I can get myself and my car inside of a building big enough to get enough distance to aim them. He’s a water engineer, so he suggested the water treatment plant his company owns. It has a big enough door for me to drive inside, a flat floor, and plenty of walls to light up. Just waiting now…

I centered mine and then jb welded the assembly to the reflector so then all i had to do was aim and i would be able to adjust them accordingly using the stock adjustment points.

That sounds like it will work great. I don’t plan on having any adjustments once I set them in there with new backing and shrouds. I want to aim and set them permanently. No reason to change them later in my mind. It won’t matter if I lower my car later cause the lights remain the same.

Damn I wanna retro my da! Im planning fx-r’s! My 2008 si which is sold and being picked up at end of the week had tsx with mdx shrouds…xenon depot ballasts with amp to d2s connectors and phillips 85122+ bulbs! heres a few pics!

Im gonna miss it ha

I get projectors alot from my friends…got some fx right now not sure what 2 im gonna use yet!

These 2 were used in an ef retro a lil bit ago…so i got 5 total lol

only problem ive had wih this is since i have solid motor mounts and the drivers side light rattles and bounces with the motor at idle. so im planning on making a bracket to have it use the factory bumper mount point behind the bumper.

DJshadow- I just realized your retro was the one I found on HID planet and posted on this thread. I kind of based my design on yours, so thank you.

ncsi- Your retro on that civic looks badass. How come you’re selling the OEM FXs, and saying you want to use FX-Rs to retro your da? I would suggest just swapping your oem FX projector lenses with the FX-R lenses from the retrofit source, and using the oem projectors. Although its not common, I have heard of a couple people’s chrome flaking off of the FX-R reflector bowl. Not saying its gonna happen, just since you have the oem ones you might as well put them to use. I personally loved the improvement of the clear lense swap onto the oem FX projector.

Thats the plan! I just am trying to decide if im using oem one pieces or ebays…

Ebays are easy, JDMs would take a lot more work. That one retro with the jdm one pieces looks the best of all though. I really wonder if the outsides of the beam pattern on that retro are fuzzy from the fluting that didn’t get sanded down. Either way, good luck!

anybody down to do a retro if I supply the parts? Im mad busy with my job and buying a new house! Tsx retro on si was done by customlightz!

Output shot

Was at the shop who’s gonna tune my da once I finish getting boost set up together. Its called dg performance in NC. Neways there was a white da with jdm one pieces retro;d with tsx projectors and flutes were sanded down in a circle! The car isnt running and to fix it should be a good bit of money from what I understand So if your on here get up with me

Is it still that clean? You should try to convince him to sell you those headlights.
