I like how the turbo is tilted like that and trying to figure out if they used and adapter on a normal top mount or if there is one made this way. Also are top mounts safe on a daily driver and I’m trying to avoid turbo lag cause its a daily driver. I spend hours and hours on forums and not new to this what so ever but I like to have reassurance. Thanks for any help guys.
Looks like to me a full race manifold but there is so many out there now no way to tell for sure…
I figured as much, at the rate im going i might just use the inline pro mani to keep the full size rad
a top mount will give you the most lag. if you want the least lag possible go for a log style manifold. a ram horn is in between the two and what i would recommend.
its a peakboost HVS
alright ill probably end up with the inline pro mani then. I’m not looking for something god awful fast just trying to beat cobalts, mazdas, and genisis cause since they been coming turbo my LS just aint cuttin it pissin me off ya know lol. but i like the way top mounts look so i was going to add some flair to it but i prefer function over form
a long tube or a log manifold really doesnt affect the spool time the exhaust turbine size will really determine the spool time. Also headder tube size can make a difference with velosity and exhaust pressure. Which ever you choose will work great. What turbo are you planning to run?
a long tube or a log manifold really doesnt affect the spool time
seriously?
long tube = 300* cfm @ max volume
short tube = 150* cfm @ max volume
engine output is 200* cfm per stroke @ max volume
just think about it, really…
numbers are not actual, just put in to prove the point
turbine specs play a part in how long it takes to spool (turbo response), but they are not the only factor. besides the manifold and turbine, there is also cam profile, piston design, port design, etc that play a part in how the turbo and engine combo will respond to each other.
^^x2. you can gain a couple hundred rpm of quicker spool.
Hey i know that the wonderful world of numbers dictate what kind of performance you should see out of a certain combination of tubing and turbo. But i have build many log style manifolds and tube style, Dynoed many for comparison and such. I feel that the log manifolds are less responsive in the setups i have built compared to the tube style. Waste gate location does also affect the efficiency of the boost and you cannot achieve the same efficiency with a log style manifold. But i guess i cannot win any kind of argument because it doesnt really matter what i think compared to some mathematical calculations…
log manifolds are horrible, no matter the application. they are not a fair comparison when paired to those of a mini-ram, full ram, equal-length, etc. if you have dyno’ed them for comparison, i would like to see these results. there are many others with results, and the math to back them, that say your not the builder/tuner you think you are.
what you think and what really happeneds, might be two different things. 99% of the time, mathematical equations will give you with in 10% of the actual end output. but variations that cant be calculated are always a given and should never be used to play down the math behind the science.
you can fight it all you want, i will gladly let you. its a free world, mostly. but i highly doubt you will make yourself “look” any better or your support your comments in the least, if you do try to fight “the math”.
but i digress, my point was made and its legitimate.
All i originally wanted to say is that the exhaust turbine size does affect turbo spool but i guess no matter what i say here i dont know what i am talking about anyhow… I am no computer geek or guy who gets his answers off the internet to sound smart, I just build high performance honda’s, toyota’s and mitsubishi’s all day long and try to help out on forums like this one with my experience in application and tuning.
In reality I have no clue what I’m doing. I’ve never done a turbo car. I’ve driven a 400hp ls/v and thought it was cool so if i can get that out of an LS I’ll be happy. But it will be daily driven. I love driving my cars and will put 1000+ miles each month on each car I go back and forth. So all help is in big thanks.
