Ok so my oil rings are gone. im trying to decide what route to take from here.my setup consists of stock usdm gsr block, arp head studs, 89 b16 head (not shaved) bc valvetrain, itr cams, aem cam gears, hondata intake gasket, itr intake manifold, bored t.b,aem intake, rc 270 injectors, aluminum flywheel and act clutch. now i know im yielding roughly a 9.8 comp. ratio right now so my question is should i rebuild my block with he same setup and boost it or go with p73-00 pistons and go all motor. 9.8 to 1 seems like a safe ratio to boost. what do you guys think?
anyone???
boosting on that compression isnt bad, but your going to need bigger injectors. Also if you did up the compression you could boost but just not as much. What are your power goals, what do you mostly use the car for?? etc all this is key to figure out what you want to do with it
thanx for the reply… well this is my daily so im not looking to make the most power available. i mean ill be more than happy with 250hp… well the na setup i was leaning towards was p73-00 type r pistons with a mugen geadgasket. that should get me close to 12to1 wich i think is unsafe for boost. what do you guys recomend fod a dd? i have an 86 si hb for down time…
my buddy did a poor mans r turbo with this set up
gsr block with ls pistons, b16 head, edlebrook profmoer intake mani, all arp in the block and itr cams with an ebay 50 trim turbo he put down 260 to the wheels at 7 psi with bad pistion ring(cheap tried to do a hone is self)
damn thats good to know. why ls pistons though? i think the c/r would be so low it would be a dog when its not boosting… not so good for a double d…
well he was planing on hi boost but his motor wouldnt handle it (the rings) and he wanted to be able to run pump gas.
ic… well i guess im just gonna go for it… is a t25 out of a z32 300zx tt too small? i have one laying around…
t25 turbo is only good for d-series engines. Its not very efficient on a b-series. If its a DD, I’d recommend this: http://cheapturbo.stores.yahoo.net/gat357trw48a.html
^^ not all true they make and hold power on the B Just matters on what T25 u get
ok so after researching i found that the t25 that i have is too small for my setup. now im looking into a dsm 18g turbo. ive read good things about it. like i said before this is my daily and domt plan on making gobs of power out of it. i think the 18g is sufficient enough for my power goals. as long as it doesnt fall off before 8500 rpm…
i found a pic of my turbo (the t25 out of the 300zx tt. lets see if i can post it… <a href=“http://s49.photobucket.com/albums/f297/JDMDime/stuff%20for%20sale/?action=view¤t=qwerty003.jpg” target="_blank"><img src=“http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f297/JDMDime/stuff%20for%20sale/qwerty003.jpg” border=“0” alt=“garrett t25 off 300zx tt $40”></a>
the 18g flows worst then a t3/t4.
but wait what 18g are we talking about? whats your set up? how much u trying to make?
what to buy my set up? Evo 8 9.8 hotside turbo and SS manifold and MF oil line kit I made 325whp and 299wtq all out of a 16g spools at around 2200rpm feels like a supercharger
im talking about the diamond star motors mitsu 18g…
you would make more power and have a better power band with a t3/t4. the 18g falls off up top
ok so t3/t4 it is. something like this?

i hope its ok to post the link…
if your going to buy a china made turbo buy it off ebay not from a PP
