Possible add on to Teg Tip for engine detailing

I stumbled across this engine bay detailing trick using Gunk engine cleaner

http://www.1017.org/nsx/Enginetrick/EngineTrick.htm

From the pics looks to work amazingly well
I want my engine bay to look like this this weekend!

Has anyone tried this stuff before?
Are there any precautions I should take before attempting it?

The only trick you’re gonna see how you got fooled.

It’s gonna take more than just a spray & wash to get it looking like that.

As for precautions, just read the instructions on the can.

wow thats clean. Well you can always try it and tell us firsthand if it actually works…

looks liek to me like they did a little painting and sandblasting but hey try it.

I was told one time that if you spray water on your engine, you can short something out or kill your engine. Is it true?
Also you will have to cover your distributer?

I always want to clean my engine bay but didn’t want to cause any damages.

I wish i could get mine to look like that!

You wont kill your engine if it is all setup stock. there are lots of things to protect sensitive parts under your hood. if you are really scared. just take your battery out, before hand, and give it plenty of time to dry. Ive opened the hood on my 91 civic at the car wash, and gave it a high pressure spray down with hot water before. its has never shorted or killed anything.

was it running in the car wash or did you spray and let it dry before starting?

guess he can’t get to the computer.
(Maybe flooded his engine washing it)

Was the engine cleaner a foam or gel?

it works generally that well yes.

i have cleaned a good many engine bays and most of them have come out looking that good. the thing is, whether the paint in the engine bay is good or not, if it isnt, dont expect an out come like in that link, but otherwise it will. you do not have to cover anything. follow those instructions and you will get good results

i’ll try it this weekend :cross:
ill try to post pics of before and after.

If you can find it, try CD2 engine detail when you’re all done to get a glossy finish, if it’s to glossy for your taste, wipe it down a little, good luck.

raining:(
FTL

What the ef?! That gunk cleaner did all that? And i know you have to cover the distributor and intake if ever you’re gonna use water on the engine bay. But it was’nt stated in that tip. Looks impossible, has anyone here done this?:wtf:

^^because you don’t have to cover the distributor or intake.

as far as those parts you can rinse them but do not ‘focus’ on watering down those components, spray it and move on

hey I just used some of the stuff everyone has been using to clear tailights and it did a good job on my engine bay!
pics soon

i use the citrus based gunk engine detailer…and the armor all extreme shine tire spray in the can. if the engine is dirty you will need rags and soft brushes to get it clean…also, the tire shine will also keep the aluminum from corroding and turnin white …id did this once a month on my srt-4 when i owned it and the engine always looked like this:

so is it a yes or no to try and use this stuff??
