open diff ls trans,

making runs may 12th with quaife and b16 trans, hoping for a 13 :corn:

i think youll shave time off… but not 7 tenths… youll probably be looking at a 14.3 or 14.4

well,… wont happen this friday the 12th… …rain rain go away…

93 LS…intake, 2 1’4 piping cat back no resonator to a stock looking muffler, B1 intake manifold… 96 SE wheels, with 205/50/15 fuzion ZRi @ 32psi.

launched at 5k

R/T … .611

1/8 … 10.100 @ 68.20
1000 … 13.206

not too shabby for my 195k stock motor…with 165 compression across the board with throttle closed (forgot to full throttle)

lemme know whatcha think…future plan…I’m boosting it, hoping for high 12’s when I’m done @ 13psi. stock with an uberdata tune.

p72 ecu stock

i wish the guy who started this thread would show his times now even tho he drives a RHD Type R. that shit is a ALL MOTOR BEAST!! he ran 12 something @ 0 bar. lol

Anyone want to analyze this?

B17a1 <60k
Ebay Intake
AEBS Intake Manifold
CTR Intake Cam
JDM 98spec ITR Header
2.5" High Flow Cat
Custom 2.5" exhaust to Comptech Muffler
Good Compression (165, 165, 163, 165)
Tuned on Chrome

I think the most power was made on a 10.5 a/f. Not 100%. I know that’s rediculous. We had to add so much fuel to the basemap (p72) to make power it’s not even funny. Would not respond well when timing was taken out (3 through the midrange and 4 from 6k up). Fell flat on it’s face when a/f was put to 14 even. Hated vtec set at 5800rpm. This is the best we could get after 2+ hours of tuning. The car basically lost 5hp and 3 torque (peak) from previous dyno session which didn’t have the manifold, exhaust, header or cam on it. header was an obx 4-1 with a 2" collector.

Any help as to what could be wrong would be helpful. We think that the ctr cam is just too big and adjusting with cam gears will return some cylinder pressure back into the mix, thereby returning my power. We also think that switching to a p30 basemap will help. We’ll see. Driving wise the car feels amazing. Every single person who has ridden in it since has been asked what they think it feels like. Every response is 150-160. They are baffled at its numbers. The car does NOT feel/act/drive like a 141hp car at all.

torque-less wonder.

i just ran 15.0@89mph tonight.

all i have now is injen short ram intake, act 8.5lb flywheel, exedy organic, remus custom axel-back setup.

wow. this thread brings back some serious memories.

UPDATE:

After the months and months of frustration we finally decided to dump the AEBS manifold in the hopes that was sucking the power from the build. We swapped it for the fabled JDM P30, rumored to produce the most power of any oem manifold. Low and behold (dyno graphs to follow), the power was upwards of 143whp (nearly to 8k), and the torque jumped over 8 points at its peak. I’m much happier with the current setup, and hope to gather some funds together to tune the cam timing in, see if we can squeeze a bit more top end out of this sucker.

driving impressions:

I know butt dynos lie but damn if this thing isn’t a totally different car now. it’s drivability is WAAAAY friendlier, and it’s an absolute monster from 60-90. Everyone who has ridden in it or driven it both before and after the IM swap think the dyno is lying or just flat out reading low. We’ll see what happens.

CLIFFS:

If you aren’t at 2.0 liters or bigger, forget the AEBS manifold.
