I just wanted to know if this is a good selunoid for trunk release. Also, is this an easy install? I just need to mount, and then run the relay wire from my alarm (clifford G2)?
Yeah
or Nay

I sell the same thing cheaper! Check in my sig…it under door accessories. But I wouldn’t get one of tose imo. Just get the stock OEM kind that is made for a honda accord 4 door. Email me and I have the link at work where someone did a write up and put it in his prelude trunk. It works GREAT. I just bought mine from hondaautomotivepart.com for 27.00 bucks. Get one of those instead. Its OEM. Never can go wrong with that. My email is rcnacura@aol.com
I sent you an e-mail, let me know when you can get me that article. I am ready to stop the trunk key scratches by going remote!
:loser: so lazy hehe, i’m just kidding :), i would like to have one too, never thougt about it though cool idea on the stock oem ones
here you go everyone:

Has all the info you need. I just emailed the guy 2 thank him for the write-up. Very helpful.
I’m going to see if I can use the actuator for my hood instead of the trunk. Paranoid about theft and the actuator, which vtec-typer showed and the one I sell doesn’t have enough travel for the hood, so hopefully this one will. (well it does, but it doesn’t work as good as I want it 2)
I’ve installed one on my G2 a few years ago and is still performing like the day I put it in. Easy to install and quite convenient to have.
Any advice for Rcnacura or I, or is this a really self explanatory install? Rcnacura said that the product looks bulky so I was wondering about fitting issues. He just got his in the mail, and my will be at my house in 2 days.

Looks like there won’t b fitment issues, just thought it wouldn’t be as big as it is. It has a kids safety release latch so if u get locked inside u won’t have a prob of gettin out

The solenoid is not that bulky at all and is thin enough to fit nicely between the back panel and the plastic trim piece. You needn’t use too heavy a solenoid lbs rating because it doesn’t take a lot of force to pop the latch. Make sure that you test various positions along the OEM latch and/or pull-wire to get the best spot and angle to effectively release the latch prior to securing the solenoid to the metal car panel.
You only need to run one wire from the solenoid back to the alarm (or other remote device) because the solenoid itself is grounded by its metal body. Best of luck.

damn problem is i don’t even know if my alarm has a extra feature ability :(, not even sure what alarm i have, i THINK i ahve a stockie
Okay, I checked my manual for my alarm, it says that the wire for my trunk release sends a ground connection to the selunoid when I press the trunk release button on my alarm. Didn’t say anything about relays. So what about power? Do I just connect power to one part of the selunoid that is tapped form say my amp, and then send the ground wire which activates the selunoid?

Your alarm does not have an on-board relay for its trunk-release channel output, something you have to add in order to use the soleniod. The alarm only puts out enough current to trigger a relay coil and the relay itself switches the necessary power to drive the solenoid.
Using a standard typical 30-40A SPDT relay, connect as follows:

Hope this helps you.
Hey Arman, I’m not sure of what wire to use if your alarm is stock, but if you look under your dash and are able to see the alarm brain, try and find the make a model number and I might be able to find out which wire you’d use for the above diagram.
* mods: should perhaps move this thread to the “Articles / Teg Tips” forum.
Ok, what is the deal, this part ended up costing me 39 bucks? Is that how much they charged you? $27+ 5 handle + 7 shipping? For that much I could have probably just gone to a dealer. I even checked to see what the shipping charge is, and understood it to be $4.95!
I can’t speak for rcnacura, but mine is not OEM. I purchased mine many years ago from a shop that I used to work at. Personally, I believe the one you listed on your very first post is sufficient in doing the job just fine - and because it’s universal, is more versatile in accomodating to a variety of mounting situations.
Mine is OEM. I bought some other stuff too when I ordered the part so not sure of the price of shipping and handling

if youre lazy, then what am I?
Okay, got the accord selunoid today, man this thing is light! Also, it came with a little relay, so do I not need to purchase one? The diagram you have has 5 connectors, but this one only has 4 (but you didn’t connect anything to the 5th pin).
Also, could anyone scan the OEM Accord instructions, mine didn’t come with any instrcutions. I already have the instrcutions from the website, but just wanted see how it is installed in the Accord.
