Okay, I just noticed that my Accord trunk lock looks a little different that the writeup from the website. It has this funky lever on teh bottom of it, but the top half looks looks the same. The part number is the same, except mine ends with a 101 instead of 100. Is this a problem, and did you get the same Rcnacura? Did you install yours yet?
vtec: Yah mine was the same too. I hope its not a problem. I haven’t installed it yet because I just found the wiring diagram for my alarm. But mine has that lever on top. Looks a little bigger, but it still should fit without any probs hopefully. Did you install yours yet vtec?
What the heck is that lever for? Did we order the wrong part? And did you get the OEM instructions?
I might install mine tonight, but I will probably be finishing my moldings, so possibly tomorrow. Come on man, don’t you want to be the “guinea pig” installer?
hehehehe, I was leavin the install up for you to do ![]()
I think the lever is like a child safety release lever. Thats really the only explanation I can think of.
I might work on it this weekend, not sure.
Well, I am still doing my moldings today, so the lock will have to wait. Ive sent me some awsome info on how to use the relay that came with the lock. So can anyone confirm if the lock that RCN and I purchased is going to work? How the heck does this thing bolt?
It works GREAT. I just bought mine from hondaautomotivepart.com for 27.00 bucks. Get one of those instead. Its OEM. Never can go wrong with that. My email is rcnacura@aol.com
Okay, when you said it works great, I thought you were saying that you were actually using the lock. So please, let me know if it does in fact work great.
Okay, the guide is currently not available at the link provided earlier, they are updating the site. If anyone needs the instructions e-mail me. But don’t ask me any questions as I am waiting for RCN to install it first. Also, RCN and I just went to the hondaautomotive website and plugged in the part number 08E49-S84-100H and this is what comes up:
Product No. Image Description Color List Price Our Price
36835 TRUNK OPENER NO COLOR 37.19 27.89
This is supposed to be part #08E49-S84-100H
But this is what Honda sent us
Product No. Image Description Color List Price Our Price
389165 TRUNK OPENER NO COLOR 35.00 35.00
part # 08E49-S84-101 <----- notice, it has a 1 at the end.
Okay, the part we have looks almost identical, except it has some funky lever on the bottom of it. It still should bolt up, and it should work. But if any of you are going to order, I recommend that you call them and make sure you are getting what you ordered. Also know that they charge a shipping charge and a handling charge, it cost me $39 to have this shipped (but it was sent next day air at regular shipping price). I am still trying to figure if this is going to work. Kinda pisses me off that they screwed up, but I guess we got the part cheaper than it was supposed to be.
Bastard! It doesn’t work. I should call up hondaautomotiveparts.com and tell them they sent me the wrong part because it doesn’t fit whatsoever. The holes don’t line up and the cable is in the wrong area. I will call them and see if I can get it replaced since its really not the part I ordered. This seems to be the piece for the newest accords maybe??
Anyways call up the people if ur going to buy it and just go to the dealer if you buying JUST the trunk release.
Ok, this really sucks. As a word of advice, please do not recommend something until you actually know that it is going to work.
I recommended it because I thought that it would be the same part, instead of the “new and improved” part that basically doesn’t fit. Stupid honda and stupid child safety release crap! Who cares if you get stuck in the friggin trunk! lol
okay, I went to my local honda dealership and they had the right part. Just make sure the part number ends with 100 and NOT 101. It will NOT have the safety release lever. The local dealership price matched Majestics’ price, even though hondaautomotive.com DOES NOT sell the right part anymore. It comes with a relay.

Using a standard typical 30-40A SPDT relay, connect as follows:
Hope this helps you.
Hey Arman, I’m not sure of what wire to use if your alarm is stock, but if you look under your dash and are able to see the alarm brain, try and find the make a model number and I might be able to find out which wire you’d use for the above diagram.

Question, where can I get 12 volt constant fused at 30 amps???
anywhere…you can find those in stereo shops. They come in packs or individually…20,30, and I think 40. Check it out.
Okay, i am almost done thanks to alot of help from Ive. The relay is installed and tested, and it is working with my alarm. The trunk lock will go in tomorrow, and i will let you all know how that works out.
Bad news everyone, this accord trunk doesn’t work period! I got the parts exchanged for the correct one, but this install just doesn’t work for the integra. Let me show you why:
This is a prelude with the stock lock

And this is what a 3 door hatchback looks like without the panel:

The Accord/Prelude trunk locks use 2 bolt patter. Ours uses 3 bolt/screw pattern. Ours has this metal bar that covers the trunk lock, the accord/prelude as you can see does not.
And finally, here is a quote from Mark himself:
No it does not work on a 90-93 Integra.
Thanks,
Mark
Conclusion: THE ACCORD TRUNK LOCK DOES NOT WORK.
Now, back to my original question:
I just wanted to know if this is a good selunoid for trunk release. Also, is this an easy install?
Yeah
or Nay
12voltshop.com domain name is for sale. Inquire now.]TRUNK RELEASE SELUNOID
Erik, glad I was able to help walk you through some of the wiring. Sorry the Accord solenoid didn’t work out for you in the end, but to answer your last question, yes - that universal unit should work just fine. It is similar to the one I used for my own application.
Also, I replied back to your email in regard to adding the diode in the circuit.
Ive
it would work on the sedans…I think. I have to look at the thing again. Becuase the sedan has the latch/lock right on the trunk like the prelude all exposed.
look at your helms, the sedan still has 3 bolts. The Accord trunk lock has only 2, and even the 2 holes don’t match up. Sorry man, but this mod isn’t for our car. Even the guy who wrote the tip who used to have an integra said it wouldn’t work. But, i am sure it won’t work for Sedan either.
Well I am almost done with my trunk release. I purchased a solenoid similiar to the one I originally displayed for only $12 from a seller on ebay. If anyone is interested I will post the seller’s id. It came brand new with all needed hardware. Before I rip apart the trunk again, I just wanted to post a pic of my trunk. Could anyone pinpoint an ideal location for the solenoid on the following photos (hint hint: IVE). BTW, thanks Ive for all of your help! And where should the Solenoid “tug” on the trunk release cable?

can u tell me which trunk release u bought from ebay cuz im hooking up my alarm and would like to put it in also. I need one for a 2dr
