same one I have. I’m going to isntall it into my hatch one of these days lol… i’ve instaleld them before. really, it’s not that hard… just follow the instructions if you dunno how to do it

The trunk solenoid was installed a few days previous, and guess what, it works awesome! Ive - you have been a tremendous amount of help and information! I haven’t been able to get my indicator lights to work properly yet, but I really don’t care right now, the trunk release works!!!

Can you please post a pic of the finsihed installation?? I appreciate all this back-and-forth and the advice about staying clear or the Accord kit (which I almost bought). I still think maybe the OEM door actuators could be used for the hatch… dunno though as I haven’t given it much thought. DEI makes some VERY heavy duty actuators (not solenoids) but I think they might be powerful enough to do the job. A have 2 of these from an old installation so I might see what I can cook up. To all who posted and replied to the orignial thread, thanks! Perhaps someone would want to do a DIY tip with pics on this??

Thanks again guys!

btw… I was going to just go to the bone yards and find an old Monte or something and rip the release solenoid out of it. All those all Sherman tank-style cars had pretty heavy duty solenoids.

Any info on where this fits best? Pics?
I’m about to install a electronic trunk release. just searching for da info. :read:

Tks.

I just installed a kit like the one above in my car yesterday. I got it on ebay for $15 shipped. It says it is rated at 15 pounds and it works great. If I remember tomorrow I will take the panel back off and take a pic of the install.

Yes, please post pics!

Shoot, that’s a good price. I just recieved mine today, it cost $20.03 after shipping and taxes (taxes :frowning: ). It looks good tho and came with a bunch of little pieces. I’m not so sure what some of the parts are for.

I think I’ll try to install it on Sunday. Any pics would be greatly appreciated!
I hope I don’t have to drill…I don’t have a drill
I was thinking attach it to one of the tail light nuts.

Thanks

Oops. I should have posted a while ago. I have the exact same setup installed already and wired to my car alarm. I have the rear trunk panel off right now so you can see the solenoid, I can take pics if you guys really need it. it’s pretty straight forward tho… I used one of the taillight stud/nuts to secure it.

Please post pics. :uhoh:

Sry about the bad pics… And yes. those are zap straps. I found it to still be a bit too loose for me so I tightened it down where needed… I put a zap strap on the end by the latch because where the metal hook hooks onto the white plastic piece, it would pop out so I tied it on there with the zap strap so it wouldn’t fall off. So ghetto and it works. You can JUST see the taillight stud/nut behing the wire…

Lol, looks great, am going to install mine later this week, hehe all also be using getto zip ties as well. As long as it works right

Amen brutha  :stuck_out_tongue:

those things absolutely rock.

 nice guys…

Nice pics

Thanks for the pics tc! I think the Zip ties are a great idea! ghetto or not.

What’s the pink thing on the solinoid mount? Is it some rubber to keep the thing stuck to the mount?

I can’t quite see the tie arm end you used to connect the lock rod to the solinoid cable. I think I can do it similarly. I also think have a few odd bits and pieces of hardware in my kit which I don’t know what to do with, (spring, a rivet thingy, and a s-shaped thing which looks like it’s good for securing wires…).

The pink thing was just a cushion type thing. If I have time I’ll try to rememebr to take better pics of the hook part
