PSI suggestions?

Okay I’ve got a b18a block, putting JE Stock Compression pistons in… Eagle Rods, and an STR Block Guard, And once I get the check I’m putting in the z10 Girdle.
My question is how my PSI do u guys suggest? Someone said without resleeving the block I can’t go higher than 6 PSI… Is that true?

Btw, the head is a b16a.

Thanks.

Harry

I believe you could go alot high than that (12?), hopfully someone w/more bottom end experience will reply

That’s what I thought!

Yea I figured I was going to be able to run 10… which was the original idea. I noticed on these block resleeving site their stuff is rated at like 40 PSI… Well… I really don’t see 40 psi anywhere in the near future… But the guy that told me not to push it without sleeving the block always seemed knowledgable… But that did kinda throw things off. :frowning:
Anybody else care to respond?

whats stock compression? 9.2? I’d say if you’re going to get new JE’s anyways, lower it a tad to 9. Then, with the proper fuel, I’d say 12 is easy.

It’s too late… I bought 9.2:1’s

Yea… I got the 9.2:1’s but I should still be able to run 10, don’t u think?

oh yea definately. since they’re forged and not cast, 10psi will fine.

Cool

Yea… Should I be worried about the cylinder sleeves? I suppose there’s a reason why people resleeve but I see people with b-series blocks running 14 psi without sleeving but a setup similar to mine, u know… low comp forged pistons, aftermarket rods, etc.

So should I worry about the cylinder walls?

Thanks again

Harry

you’re putting a block guard in, that should be fine.

24lbs on the dyno…
18lbs on the street…
20+ at the track…

STOCK sleves, 9.0 JE, Eagle rods, Nu Formz block guard…
LS/Vtec Turbo

they named their block guard after me

Nu Formz?

Hey… I wonder how that compares to the one I bought… I may have gotten ripped off… it’s an STR Block Saver… Should I get rid of it, or is it good enough?

Thanks

should be fine…

Formz TSi…they named their block guard after me

so your name is now NU FORMZ TSI !!

I am the savior of open deck high output motors! muwahaha bow down!

LOL

Is this something I should worry about? LMAO

hahaha YES… YES YOU SHOULD!

LOL

Well anyhow What’s the deal with sleeving anyways? What are u protecting against? it’s an engine block… not a paper bag… Is there really a big risk running 10-12 psi? Lol

just because its a block doesnt mean it cant break. An open deck motor (which is what you have) has large open spaces between each cylinder. It lets the manufacturers use less material which in turn is cheaper. My motor is what is called closed deck or solid deck, its totally solid and has only holes for the pistons obviously and coolant passages.

Open deck:

Solid deck

Get the idea? Damn ASCII characters

Okay… next Q…

Are there any blocks that come STOCK as Solid Deck so I can boost over 8 psi without blowin a hole in one? lol

Thanks for helpin btw.

nothing that honda ever made hehe… in my opinion, the 3 most famous import motors are:

4g63T (90-99 DSM, 92-present EVO)
SR20DE(T) (tons of nissans, SER’s, G20’s, Silvias etc.)
RB26DETT (skyline)

all of which being solid decks.

I dont know of one honda motor that is.
