question? most gains?

I’m stuck on where to go next, I was wondering what people would recomend, I have a 92 GSR, I have a cold air intake and DC Headers. Now I have about 300$ to spend on something and I dont know what to get. I’m debating on performance wires and plugs, Skunk2 intake manifold, new throttle body, underdrive pulley, or a msd ignition module. I dont know what wold give my car, right now he most gains. Any suggestions? -Thanks-

Save for a turbo if you want to really be fast. Otherwise all that stuff you listed won’t really do anything for you.

get some good wires and some ngk-r plugs.(relatively cheap bang for the buck)…msd will be useless at this point, underdrive pulleys are too contraversial whether theyre bad for your car or not,and intake manifold/throttle body will run you about 300 for the manifold and at least 200 for a good throttle body for little gains. There are other ways to gain speed besides the motor.Get the wires and get some lowering springs!!Do you have an exhaust setup yet?If not f#$k everything and get 2.5-2.75 inch piping no cat just resonator and humm yurself to death with the wonderful rumbling of the all mighty b17a!

wires? Why would he get wires? Stock wires are more than adequate, unless they are old and need to be replaced, but really wires? what a waste of money.

Basically none of those thigns will give you any gains, Ignition is useless if you aren’t running Nitrous or Turbo. 250whp N/A gsr’s run on the stock ignition so obviously it’s very capable. Underdrive pulley’s would net you some power, but there’s alot if debate about whether your should really replace your cranckshaft pully, it supposedly a harmonic balancer that helps your engine at highRPMs and replacing it isn’t a good idea.

And if you just get the AC and PS pulley you won’t see much gains, skunk2 might be ok be I doubt you’d see much. ThrottleBody will MAYBE give you 1 or 2 whp, save your money.

I’d save up and get some cams, CTR or ITR or something like that. That would be the best bang for your buck.

If i had 300 i would most liking get the skunk IM. And or come cam gears. Or better yet if you can find come, itr cams, that will hold you off for a while…

keep the 300 and save keep saving get a turbo! thats what Im doing

or start buying peiced for the turbo and make ur own off ebay!!!

cams

i was told the itr cam upgrade wont give that much of a kick and will make me lose torque to top it off. I dont want to saveup for a turbo just yet, if it’s possible to get to the point where GT mustangs are taken with ease on just ALL MOTOR I wanna get there first. I just don’t know where to start. So i guess my question would be "If possible, what parts should be bought to make a 92 GSR capable of pulling stock GT’s “with both good drivers.” what parts shoud be bought in order for this?
Parts allready purchased for the B17a GSr motor-

  1. DC 4-2-1 headers

  2. Weapon R Cold Air Intake (piping from another intake, weapon r filter)

  3. NGK Iridiums spark plugs, Onsoku 5-core High energy Wire Set

    Anyone?

since when does skunk2 make underdrive pulleys?

As far as making more horsepower, if i were you, i would look into the ultra SS pulleys by Unorthodox Racing. I would read the comments regarding the pulleys and the process in which they are made to your specific car. The complete set is harmonicly balanced. If you don’t feel comfortable with buy the pulleys maybe some better cams [o.e.m. or better] and a vafc or safc [ i don’t know which app. you would use. i personally would not use this on my car unless i had a vtec motor, which you do].

one last thing i can think of is weight reduction. Do you have a bounce to the ounce system in the back or back seats. I don’t know how far you want to go to beat the gt mustang. anyway those are just my ideas. good luck, and maybe the search feature on this site can help you greatly.

Not really. Who told you this… Itr cams gave me a big kick on my lsvtec. I wound say a good 20 hp give or take.

yes. cams are the #1 power adder for N/A. second is a header.

save for cams, adjustable gears, and hondata s100. then get it professionally tuned.

i meant the skunk2 Intake Manifold might be ok for some small gains,

and lets see some proof that the unorthodox pulleys act as harmonic balancers, no you might be able to get away with the aftermarket crankshaft-pulley on the low revving LS, but if I had a GSR I wouldn’t do it. But it’s up to you.

Oh and Mustang GT’s can be taken with EASE with a built gsr, search around and figure out what you’ll need to make a 13second GSR, it’s not too hard.

FIRST OFF: your car DOES NOT HAVE HEADERS it has a, uno, one single HEADER

SECOND OFF: buy an exhaust

CAPTAIN OBVIOUS TO THE RESCUE

non of this shit is gonna give you any gains without an exhaust, and im really shocked that all you OG fuckers didnt say anything about that

Why waste your money just to beat a GT Mustang? Seriously, you can spend the money to beat a GT Mustang N/A, but by the time you get there, you will be over half way to a turbo kit that would get you MUCH more power. Don’t be afraid of a turbo. It took me like a year and a half of saving to get my turbo kit together, and there is no way in HELL, that I’d ever waste my money on an N/A set-up ever again. Oh yeah, the whole reason I even made this post was to let you know that you either go turbo or N/A, you can’t do both. If you build your car N/A just to beat a GT Mustang, then you’ll have to sell all your parts if you ever want to go turbo later.

Definitely get an AEBS intake manifold. Its cheaper and better than either a Skunk2 or ITR manifold. You should be able to find them new for around $179. Then after that get your TB bored out to 65mm, or buy one thats that large. That should give you good gains for the money.

for motor - cams. something more aggressive than itr’s.
for suspension - rear sway bar. suspension techniques 19mm for a bolt in install, or progress 22mm if you don’t mind some drilling.

Plug wires and MSD ignition are the two biggest wastes of money, especialy on a car bound for all motor. The only thing you listed thats even worth thinking about is the S2 intake manifold. Edelbrock makes a kick-ass t-body, but is 2-3 whp worth $259? Either buy a cat-back or a V-AFC and dyno time.

werd, no gains, zero, zip…nada

read their website and learn please.

there is a guy on there with a type r reving up to 9k with no problems

tordrcl,
What are your intentions with the car? Since this post is in LC, I just wanted to make sure you were talking about drag racing. However, if you plan on making turns at some point, $300 might be better spent on the suspension. Please clarify.
