After getting the tune down well at 9psi I was finally ready to bump it up to 16psi today but ran into a bit of a problem. I’m currently running a 2.5" downpipe through a test pipe (2.5") and stock exhaust/muffler past the cat. My reasoning for this is so it keeps the exhaust note as close to stock as possible and it did just that. As it turned out, I couldn’t up the boost pressure anymore than 9psi due to the incredibly restrictive stock exhaust system causing too much backpressure. Once I ran open down pipe it cranked right up to 16psi with no problems (and was quite mean :)) So now I need to get a higher flowing exhaust and I’m looking for something extremely quiet, i’m willing to sacrifice some power just so it’s a bit quieter.
I’ve been looking around on honda-tech, googling and checking sponsors ads on forums for after market straight through exhausts that will mount up to a G2 teg and i’m not having much luck. what’s an extremely quiet cat back and where can I find it? If this doesn’t work out I can resort to building my own as I have the means to weld up mandrel piping, a large resonator and a magnaflow but i don’t have the will. I’m honestly getting a bit tired of working on my car.

CAR:
'92 LS hatch
Built b18a1
thanks for any input.[/QUOTE]
i had a greddy mx and it ran 9psi fine and was quite as fuck?
now i run the thermal 3
so i would say any performance exhuast for the da works
sp2,mx,rsr,thermal classic. ect
imo best best is run a full 3" with a big long resonator and a magnaflow muffler and it should be as quite/if not alittle louder than those exhuast listed above
I’m not being lazy, but did decide to compromise. I ordered the pre-bent weld up kit from kteller with an 18" resonator and Magnaflow muffler. So there’s still quite a bit of work to be done as far as getting the flanges, hangers, resonator and muffler welded on and fitted up plus it saved me a lot of money. Also have an order in for NGK bkr7e’s so it’ll get rid of the stuttering I have up top. Can’t wait to crank it back up to 16psi and start tuning again wooo.
I have a 3 inch down pipe going straight to a 3 inch thermal exhaust and it sounds great not loud at all, I actually held off installing it for a few months because it would be really loud.
Awesome that’s what I need to hear. The exhaust pieces arrive on monday and i’ll hopefully have them welded up and on the car by monday or tuesday. I’ll snap some pics and report back when i’m done.
