lol its cool im doing my build thread here too im no longer posting shit on azht since my da got stolen after i posted it

So I noticed another dent in my front passenger fender (the one I already replaced with a pick n pull fender)…and since the fender was already more of an orange-ish red color I decided to paint match it myself for now. I grabbed two cans of Duplicolor Milano Red in a spray can. Another can of primer, and another of clear. I trust myself painting as I’ve always had a good steady hand and good can/gun control.

Here’s what it looked like when I first got the “new” fender put on:

Time to prep…sanded down the fender with 400 grit and primered it.

4 coats of Milano Red on and 3 coats of clear later…

All done and out in the daylight

The line on the bumper is tape residue I need to finish wiping off, but overall I’m happy for now. It sure beats an orange fender.
I think it’s time to finally dump this bitch.

time to buff it out, find a replacement hood or CF and paint that trim up

Yeah, gonna wetsand that fender and probably put on another 1-2 coats…then I’ll wash and wax the whole car. I’ll pick up a clean hood before I fully respray the car. Already have trim paint for the trim, so yeah that is definitely next.

yea the paint and scuffing is the easy part…the time it takes to properly mask off so you dont overspray <<<<<

Hell yeah man, the prep is all about patience.
I’m also considering painting the car myself. I have a decent paint gun already and I would buy one more just for the clear coat. Take my time sanding and prepping everything, then rent a compressor for 2-3 days to primer and paint.

I think I could do a damn good job and probably for around $500 in supplies.

AZHT blows major nuts. Site is nothing but shit head dumb asses who do nothing but talk shit about EVERYTHING. I gave up on it.

I’m def. a shit talking dipshit on there though lololol
So many stupid ass fucking people there, so much fail and lol’s

agreed…that was about 2 hrs of taping up and taking my time making sure i had everything covered…then less than 30 minutes to spray smh lol

but if you have the ability and time to paint it yourself, do it. like you said it’s all about prep and prep is about patience.

Nice GSR!

What kind of touch up paint did you use? And where did you get it? Looks a lot better!

AutoZone has Duplicolor paint called “Perfect Match”. It has TONS of OEM color code spray paint cans. I grabbed two cans of Milano Red R-81, a can of that same brand primer, and the same brand clear.

Nice, I had no idea. It looks like a pretty close match from the pictures, how does it look in person?

why not get the 92-93 bumper?

I have one. It’s OEM black paint right now though (bought the front bumper off “Chris” cbaracing on AZHT), and it’s still sitting in Phoenix. I need to drive down there to pick it up. I’ll be keeping both though so I can flip-flop…that’s why I bought the SRR quick release kit.

I’ll start out saying the paint that I bought the car with was laid down very shitty. It looks great from far away, but it is FAR from great…that being said…if I do ONE more coat of Milano Red and maybe 2-3 more coats of clear after a wetsand…you probably couldn’t even tell I did it with spray paint. The color is damn near dead-on.

Right on. My paints not perfect either. I just want to touch some stuff up before it gets a full respray.

Loving the budget build. Im doing one of those myself with a 90 DB1 LS
How did the LED bulbs turn out? did you have to do any harness mods (equalizers?)
I just want to make sure I wont drop a wad on LED’s for them to crap out the system a day or so later.

Wow, loving the build.
Wish I could afford to work on my car.
At this point I’m relying on the kindness of co-workers to help get the front bumper back on.
My plans for suspension and painting it are all scrapped until I can get the front end fixed.
