rebuild block for turbo?

To all the force induction experts. I have 92 GSR B17A now. I will buy the Drag turbo kit next two weeks. I m also thinkking to rebuild my bottom end. I want to oversize my bore to have about 2000 or 2100 cc. what size piston I should get? 84 mm or bigger?
How much boots does the Drag kit can put out?
Also what brand I have to get for the Rod?
Is it ok if I only rebuild the bottom end and nothing done to the Head?

you plan on re-sleeving?

Yeap, I will re-sleeving and I will also get the AEM plug and play EMS.

use 83-84mm sleeves. 83mm it will give you a lot of room for reboring if something were to happen with your setup. 84mm is okay but no one really goes bigger than 85mm on a fully-built turbo setup.

the head i recommend at the minimum upgraded valvesprings & retainers. black nitride coated stainless valves would be a plus as well…

you can make probably around 400 something hp on a drag kit if you really pushed it, but i would recommend getting a kit that has the piping routed in a more conventional manner. drag kits for g2’s have way too much piping length.

So what # of the displacement I will have on 83 and 84 mm piston?

Can someone tell me what horse power and torque will this setup SAFELY make?

*Drag Turbo kit
*Tial 35mm Wastegate Upgrade
*Eagle Forged Rods (Includes ARP Rod Bolts)
*JE Pro Series 9.0:1 CR Pistons 83 or 84mm (includes JE Piston Rings and Pins)
*AEM EMS for 92-93 integra GSR.
*RC Engineering 440cc Injector
*Re-sleeving block.

with a b17a block, your diplscement will be 1.76L with 83mm bore & 1.8L with 84mm bore.

in the setup you listed below, the injectors will limit how much power you can make. buy 720’s or at least 550’s if you want to reach 400hp safely. also, this is just personal preference, but i would up the cr to 10:1. with proper tuning, your car will still operate safely.

Is 400 bhp or whp? how much boost to get that number in this setup?
10:1 CR would’t it cause detonation(preignite) if it boost too high??

400whp. how much boost depends on how efficient your motor setup is & how big a turbo you have. 10:1 cr is safe if tuned correctly.

Eagle does not make rods for the B17. I spoke them at the Auto Salon last month and they seem to think that at the end of 93 the rods in a B17 are the same as a B18. They don’t know exactly when Honda started using the B18 size rods. Seeing how you plan on spending a lot of money anyway, Crower is the basically the only way
to go here.

It seem like Eagle & Crower use the same material 4340 steel, is that mean they both can handle same power? In all you experts experience which one is better for turbo? What is the good price on Crower Rods? I can get the Eagle Forged rods under $325 shipped, will the Crower be the same?

Thanks alot for all you guys help me out.

Is this Crower valve spring/retainer kits fit B17A? There is a groupbuy for $390 shipped, is it good price?

You quoted me but maybe you didn’t understand what I wrote. The chances that Eagle makes off-the-shelf rods for your B17 is slim and none. You will have to go custom or get Crower for $650.

AMERIKAN: I got it. Do you know any place sell Crower parts for good price?

I wish. I may be building my B17 in the future, so hopefully someone will make them other than Crower at some point (doubt it though).

i personally wouldn’t go with the 9:1 pistons, I went with 8.5:1 and a 3mm headgasket, it dropped me down to about 8.2:1

Jeff

turboteg1.8: What brand head gasket you using now? How much of it and where you got it?

JE pistons at 9:1 compression with Cometic head gasket. To each his own…

I had to buy crower rods for my car as well i got them from race engineering for $645

I wouldn’t get the EMS unless you know someone with experiance with it… because its still a new thing, but it has more adjustability than a hondata

As for valvetrain and pistons i got my stuff from jeff at importbuilders.com excellent prices and he has a reputable shop

I just finshed putting the motor together yesterday , and its fully built hopefully it will run… fingers crossed

How much do they charge you the valvetrain and piston? Are those Crower spring and retainer? what kind the piston you got?
