I was lookin at all different turbos and I was wondering what would be better a 50 trim or a 57 trim or neither for a mostly stock b18a. I kno the 50 trim will make boost at 2500 or so most likely a lot sooner then the 57 trim but the 57 trim will make more power in the end. Any thoughts? Maybe someone has something else to recommend? Maybe a place where they sell a good turbo decently cheap?
IMO a 50 trim is a better fit for a stock LS, I do have a 57 trim though. It depends on your goals really.
If you want peak HP numbers go with the 57 trim
If you want a more streetable torque curve go 50 trim
Does the 57 trim give you any problems catching traction? What are you boosting at and what are your HP numbers around?
I had a 50 trim, and i loved it. Spooled fast. I have since upgraded to a 78 trim in my GT40R.
Your always going to have traction issues if you dont have a good set of tires.
Unfortunatly I dont have it back together so I cant give you numbers yet. I’m figuring on 300hp @ 12 psi though.
i get full boost around 4400 rpm on my 57 trim .63 .60…dyno’d 279whp 250tq @13.9 psi on my stock LS…
Any one got some numbers with a 50 trim? I not lookin for anything specific Im just trying to see whats to my liking.
One other thing. About using the T fitting to get oil from the block where the sensor is. How many people have a T fitting coming straight outta the block without have a short line before it? Has any one ever had a problem with just connectin the t fitting straight to the block?
yea, tee fiting breaks chunk off block from vibration… never seen it with my eyes but have seen more than enough pictures to bolt my tee to the firewall (why risk it?)
I run a 60 trim and I am only running about 7 psi since I require cash to get my car tuned again… I spool fully at 4k, Its totally up to you like others have said set a goal…
My goal is to be able to run off a stock Ls right now. Maybe like 230whp Ill be happy or maybe run in the 13s for now until I get used to how turbo works since Im new to it and never messed around with it before. I dont wanna have to build a motor up right away cuz I dont have the money at the moment. Im trying to rule out whats better to spool up fast but make less power or have a some lag but spool harder showing higher top end power.
Mine comes right off the block, never had any problems with it.
These will all fit nicely for your goals:
T3 super 60
T3/04 50 trim - .48a/r
T3/04 57 trim - .48a/r
They will all spool similarly also.
I made 219hp/205tq at under 8psi on a T3 super 60. I also pulled a 13.6 @ 5000’ elev.
i got a 42/48 turbo and spool at 3k, i love that, people say small turbos cut off, first of all, 80% of these people have no fucking idea what they are saying, i run 7psi all the way up to 7k
G2 Integra 217…What’s up buddy? I am a proud owner of a 4 door Teg with a nice Stock Ls Motor with a Drag Kit…T3/T4 50 Trim, 450cc Injectors, 255 Walboro inTank Fuel Pump, And for safety I added all new gaskets and a Multy Layered Cometic Head gasket.
I had her Tuned with CROME…It is all in Tuning…As many would say…
I am, for now, running 9 LBS all day and have 210WHP…
Once I get a Clutch, Lighter Fly Wheel, Digital Boost Controler and a good Fuel Pressure Regulator, then I will Re-Tune and boost 12-14 LBS with apprx. 275-300WHP per my Tuner Guy…
I am also going to have my T for the Oil Sending Unit redone the correct way, for it has Broken on me 2 times already…
As for right now I am very satisfied…Be safe…
