I did this mod to mine a few weeks ago after a friend showed me the link. I used boiling water and a little bit of bleach. It worked PERFECT, like 3 swishes and it was great. Hardest part was drying them out.

i just tried then, its very hard to get 2 of the screws out on each side, do i have to take off the side panels of the boot as well? whats the ebst way to get them out?
ok i have another problem, how do i get the accual light OUT? that is hard…did yours just come straight out? or did u have to move it around alot.
There should be a total of 6 nuts that you have to undo. One of them has a cap to which a wiring clip is attached. You just need to pop it off in order to gain access to remove the nut. It also helps if you remove the trunk liner to get access to the bolts. Once all the nuts are removed, the assembly should just pop out. If it doesn’t come out easily, tap on the studs (where the nuts go on to) with something hard like a hammer to dislodge the assembly.
is tio glued in or anything? will i break the seal or anyhtign, me and my m8 had a good shot at geting it out but we couldnt get it lose, we even hit the screw thigns, but well try again on the w/e

It shouldn’t be glued in, unless you bought it used and the previous owner sealed it with a sealant. There’s a foam gasket between the assembly and the body of the car that should only be held in place with pressure when the light assembly is bolted down.

If they are sealed/glued into place, I’m not sure how you’re gonna get them out. Hopefully they resealed with the old factory gaskets and worst case you’ll end up shredding them apart to get the assembly out. You should be able to buy a new set or make your own. I wish I were a little closer to help you out (If you paid the air fare, I’d be more than happy to come out). Good luck!

That doesnt dull the brake lights to make the tails appear pink when you are breaking? cause that would look stupid. Any pics with brake lights on etc? If it looks good might have to pick a new set of earlier tails and try it.
omg i had the worst Fing time doing it.
1st of all, the retards sealed it with some sorta shit to stop it leaking, and it took my damn ages to get the bastard off (one side), then i couldnt get the accual thing off, after nearly breaking it, i got one side off. i started to do it and i found i got the wrong shit cleaner- so the stupid thing barely worked. also my mates were with me and they didnt fuckign help me at all, we took my whole back out pretty much and the screws are fucked so thats bloody great
so afta it barely working at it getting darker, i decided to screw it, i didnt have time to get it fully drained but the light had to go abck on, its now half done on one side, and not done on the other.
im gonna try do it again when i can be botherd, i fucked up the seal so its gonna get wet if it rains probably (just my luck, itll prob rain tonight) so yeh, im pissed off :\
