Remove pink lines in 90-91 tails without taking tails apart

well i yanked the pass. side tailight off today to try it with Super concentrated simple green and it turned out great. i started doing it and it didnt seem like it was wrking, so i took it inside to do it in the sink. just sprayed a bunch in and turned on crazy hot water and filled them like halfway and swished em around…i got it almosy completely cleared but there were 2 really stubborn spots, so i poured some clorox and hot water in and just let them sit there for like 10 mins and they cleared completely. oh and if you get lots of suds in there and you cant get them out, pour in a capful of fabric softener along with more hot water, kills them suds dead!
ill have to pull the drivers side and do it on my next day off.

Umm… I would worry about the water because then it will build up with consendation inside the light if you dont dry it out completely. I took extra time making sure i dried it out completely.

im gettin ready to go the suto parts store now and get the stuff to try this and i will post pictures when im done, if someone shows me how to post.

hey,

yea I had those stubborn spots, and followed the advice of another user with the clorox. man I spent 3 hours with purple power on them and nothing, 5 minutes of clorox and bam white… thanks so much bro you saved me buying another tailight.

word, cool mod

Another one who needs help

Guys, i live in australia and i tried clearing my tails and most of the pink came out but i cant seem to get the rest out… its annoyin me a lot. Now ive tried, degreaser, kenco heavy duty degreaser, sugar soap, kenco shift it, methylated spirits, bleach, nothing will get the rest out. But ive been reading about this miracle clorox stuff… now let me know what type it is so i know exactly what to get… PLZ reply soon cos this is annoyin me soo much!!!

hey bro

take some liquid clorox bleach from any convinience store and hot water and add each to your tailight… let it sit for about 7-8 minutes and then rinse out and those stubborn spots will be gone.

do you think any type of bleach will work?? I mean its the same principle in essence because it is literally sucking the pink out of the lines… I will have to do this when i get the chance because the lines are annoying me… Thanks for the advice

how is it that you get the white lines out.

Take apart your tail lights and sand them down.

is there a tip on hw to do that

yeah in the Teg Tips up on the top header

mmm smoked… :shy:

Castrol Super Clean isnt sold in california anymore :uhoh:

But i lucked out 2 weeks ago :)… When browsing through cleaners at PepBoys i see a bottle of castrol super clean hidden behind the meguiars wax :)… Bought that shit :).

I ordered a set of tails, hoping to white them out

didn’t you just paint them all red, darkdb?

yea, trying to cover the cracks on my current pair of tails… I dropped them walking towards the house…

But now i bought another set of tails, hoping to attempt again  now that i have one of the last bottles of castrol super clean in california :stuck_out_tongue:

^ besides the gallon jug i have. I’m pretty sure you can get that shit off ebay still or somewhere.

Dammit! Why did I open this thread? I had never noticed the pink lines in my tails before, then I opened this thread to see what it was about & now I can’t look at my tails w/out seeing those them!!

Quick clarification, when you say rinse w/bleach & water, do you just dump it into where the bulbs hook in, or can you actually take the lense off?

After reading every post, I attempted this with the Castrol super clean.
My lights were off a '90 and i believe they are the original.

Used boiling water. Didn’t really work well like everyone described, took awhile for it to work and even then, wasn’t working evenly throughout and then realized black was showing at some spots, I stopped instantly. :worry:

Ah well, the spots that did clear looked awesome.

I live in Canada, car mainly sits outside exposed to the sun. Could have been a factor?

I don’t want to deter anyone, If you are thinking of doing this definitely give it a try cause if it does work for you it’ll look awesome. Perhaps a poll should be made so we know what the success rate is?

I don’t know why people have such a hard time with this…I’ve done this to 2 pairs of tails now and they came out perfect.

All I did was POUR about a 1/2 cup of PURE Superclean in there. Slosh it around for about 30 seconds, then dumped it out and rinsed thouroughly with HOT (not scorching) water.

Hasn’t failed me sincel
