Remove pink lines in 90-91 tails without taking tails apart

here’s my taillights

how did you make it black? i want mine to turn black teach me how.

If yours already came out white, just leave them. My one taillight turned completely black after letting %100 degreaser soak in them for a good 20 minutes, then I filled it with some boiling water and it just happened that way. I attempted to do the other tail the same but could only get about half of the lines completely black… I eventually gave up and just bought a pair of 92-93 taillights.

kewl! i leave it the way it is then…thanks

anyone ever tried painting them with like a colored glass stain? kinda the same idea as the bumper lenses but from the other side? how do u think this would turn out? :hmm:

wow, i just sis mine today and it was sooo easy. it only took me one cycle of the solution.

epidemic did you sand them. . .if so can you tell me how u got them like that, sand grit, wet sand etc. . . . .n e wayz heres a pic of how mine turned out. . . . this was an awsome tip!!!

no i didn’t sand them, i used the SuperClean method.

wrong quote

if you want to sand them to make it look shine. you can use 1500 grit wet/dry sandpaper (use the wet method) then you need turtle wax red, turtle wax white & plastic polish just like how to clean your headlights in the teg tip. mine came out very nice & clean using super clean & using headlight cleaning method. you can see my taillights on the very top of this page.

Yay, they’re finally on the car! I think they look spectacular! I love the White on White look!!

method of applying the superclean

do u have to apply the castrol superclean inside or outside the tail light lense?
and do u have to sand it before u wipe it down with the superclean?

All you have to do is spray/pour the Engine Degreaser into the turn signal portion of the tail light. Get the water REALLY hot coming out of your tap. Put that water into your tail light, swoosh the water/engine degreaser around for a while. Rinse and repeat until white.

so do u pour/spray inside the lense or outside the lense?

It says how to do it many times throught this post. even the post before yours. and even on the first page. Just gotta read.

Good idea making that part Bold and enlarged. I guess some people have poor eyesight. :stuck_out_tongue:

And I dont know if anyone has thanks you yet, but Thanks for figuring out this super easy way to get some nice looking tails. Too bad mine are getting foggy. :frowning:

Sure thing. On the foggy issue. Try getting some clear silicone, and seal the gap around the lense and housing. Once they are drie out that is. I did this to mine, just to ensure that if the super clean had an affect on the original seal inside there, that the silicone would take care of that. Mine have been good so far.

wow that really makes me wanna do mine like RIGHT NOW lol

how much did you pour in?

I didn’t pour much in at all. A lot of it has to do with the temp of your water. The hotter you get it, the more effective the process is going to be. I only had to do one cycle of the hot water and superclean. If i had to give measurements though, i would have a used about 1/3 cup of HOT water at the beginning then poured in about 1/4 cup on the super clean, then a little more water then i shooke it up, poured it out, put just hot water in to rinse them out and done.
