renewing your door panels

steps:

  1. get the fabric from any store i got mines from walmart for $4.44 for 1 yard thats all you need for 2 door panels
  2. grap an spray adhesive i got craft bond by elmers
  3. get a laquer of any kind and some napkins
  4. start off by measuring the fabric make sure u leave a couple of space so it would not be so short
  5. spray down the part where u want to put the fabric, tape the excess where u dont wanna get some … its okay if u do get a little bit thats why theirs laquer to whipe it off
  6. smooth it out with your hands use some force on the turns u will need some muscles
  7. cut with a small blade angled toward the outside of the fabric like shown
  8. clean up with laquer on the door panel on a napkin … dont get laquer on the fabric
  9. your done … saved me $150 and the coolest thing about this is that u can use almost any heavy duty fabric out their … and any color
***price it cost me for materials : $11.50 - 1 yard of fabric and 2 spray adhesives
    *** labor time : 2 1/2 hrs
*** original price per door panel at a upholstery shop 80 - 160

hit me up if u have any questions
enjoi!

wow you got the corners really really good…do u have ne tips on how u got it that damn smooth…cuz i did this like about 1 half years ago and well it took its toll of the heat and sun and well its no longer there and i now have glue stains there…hahaha but i do plan on redoing it sometime soon…but ne advice would be great…

wut kinda material did u use? was it strechy?

aite thanx
peace

dono what kind of material but it was like stock material but from walmart i got the corners good because i got a straight blade and flipped it over so the sharp part would stick up and i just pressed the material in with the backside of the blade and material was kinda stretchy but took most of my muscles to make it look like that

sweet that looks great…imma have to try that…i have to redo my doors and rear panels cuz after 2 year the sun just killed it…faded to shit and its not as smooth and the glue was commin off so…its time to redo it…

thanks for the advice ill post up some pics when i have my doors finished.

peace

i wanna update the glue that i showed suxs … i thought it would hold up for atleast 3 months but i guess not the sun took the toll of the upper part of the door panels bottom is fine im going to buy some glue from this upolstery shop and ill update on price and name

the 3m 90 doesnt hold up all that great either…well it held up long enough i guess abotu 1.5 years…not bad it was time to change the fabric ne ways cuz the sun just killed the color (black to brown) hahaha

if u can get somethign stronger let us kno thanx

peace

gorilla glue would hold for a long a$$ time :whip:

where do u get gorilla glue ??? and will it resist the heat?

go to a fabric store and buy fleece fabric.

its thick enough not to let glue bleed though, stretchy enough to fit in the curves and its soft as a cotton ball and looks wicked.

nice guys  i kinda like the black door panels with the light grey inserts… has anyone redone the bottom of the door panels by the speakers?

what kind of fleece did you get… i cant find anything

Just got this done! The deep corner in the rear of the door panel is a bitch!.. i was thinking of the speaker cover… but i didn’t know if that would be over kill… but great write up! And yes those are my custom JDM headlight housing with a projector in them and a different cover… :hi5:

Just Did The Same Thing This Weekend
I Used Ultra Suede. It Looks And Feels 100 x’s Better Than The Stock Door Panels. To Get In The Cracks I Used A Small Flat Head Screw Driver Piece Of Cake.

a little off topic, but what armrest is that??

I Dunn:think: I Never Seen One Like This Before Either. It Took Me About 4mos To Find Out That It Slid Back And Forth And That It Had Cup Holders On It.
It Was On The Car When I Brought It…

I’ve refinished my doors twice, and they always come out bad.

Right after their done, they look awesome, but like a week later, the fabric starts coming out of the seams and coming apart.

I can never get it to come out JUST right…
