REVIEW: Megan Racing 2-Piece 4-2-1 SS Header, Magnaflow Cat, Muffler, Resonator

Good to know, figured it wouldnt sound good with no resonator, hoping the 18" is a good length.

you should measure the runners on the header and the collector also. I’m interested to see how big they are, I think I remember hearing they were smaller than stock.

Any updates on this?

yea im interested too…when i do my turbo setup i was thinkingabout doing one just like yours, with bare stainless piping fromthe muffler outlet out to the bumper instead of buying a tip

just a tip after you get the header put on clean it down real good, I mean REAL GOOD, the first megan i installed ended up turning a nasty dark bronwish color because my hands were oily dirty whatever, the second one i cleaned up with solvent(from my schools parts cleaner) and after it got heated up it turned a nice goldish color

Second:

with turbo cars, it’s ALOT queiter then NA cars, I’m running 3" from turbo abck with a Mangaflow 18" resoantor and magnaflow muffler. that’s it. and it’s quieter then most NA cars around town. I ran my muffler longthways and used the inlet/outlet as the tip.

3" muffler outlet for my 3" exhaust

Tchleung- i know itll be quieter, but does it get louder as you get higher rpm’s? i want it to be quiet at low rpm/idle, but when you get going you know it means buisness. also ill prolly run my muffler horizontal like the stock configuration, but use a peice of raw stainless pipe leftover from the piping kit, angle cut, for a tip.

Well put the header on today, boy that took a lot longer than I thought, ended up having to take an angle grinder to the A pipe.

Fitment is really pretty good, almost touches the oil pan but thats ok I will put some header wrap or somthing right there to sheild the oil pan from the heat.

Bolted it back up to the stock cat, leaks but o well its only temporary. It sounds sooooooooo different, you can like hear this noise, its like a ticking, but I dont want to call it ticking, because that sounds bad, it sounds weird, but cool at the same time, almost like you can hear the explosions as they come out the ports. But you can hear it pretty loud even over the intake noise. Took a few redline passes and it sounds pretty nice, dont noticce to much power different, but when I looked at my cat it was pretty clogged, and its leaking really bad at that connection right now, so we will see about that when I get the rest of this on. O, and it does hang a little bit lower than stock, not by much though. And Brian, I am still getting around to measuring those ports, just gotta find a ruler, belive it or not we dont have one

More updates as I get this all installed

I didn’t know there were good headers available for under $200! This is a pretty good review!

Da9tegra, did you paint your intake pipe? I’m lovin’ that look!

yep i painted the one on the white integra, the intake on the red one came black. I just got really bored of all the chrome bling bling shit and having to keep it clean so i painted everything flatblack.

but back on topic, for the price the megans are a great header.

Great Write up so far

would it be possible for you to take some pictures of the clearance there is between the Header and the Oil Pan? And off hand do you know if the collector is 2.25" I’ve been looking into this header for awhile, but this is exactly what I was looking for, and good write up.

Thanks

I will get some pics when I get a chance, the pipe size of the collector on the Megan Racing header is 2", it has a teir down style thing you can see in the pics that goes to I beleive 2.25" and 2.5".

I got it installed today, I am happy with it, it actually might be to quiet lol. It is just slightly louder than stock. When idling, unless your standing at the rear of the car the intake is louder than the muffler lol. But if you stand around back it sounds beefy, just quiet. When I get on it, its still not that loud, but definatly louder than stock. Maybe should have gone with a 14" resonator or maybe even a 12"

I will try to get some video, sound, and more pics of sizes and clearances soon.

i wanna hear the setup now. and how hard was it to unbolt the exhaust manifold bolts on the engine?

Not that bad, but thats probably because I was the last one to put them in  I replaced the manifold gaskets last year.

heres a pic of the megan header I installed this last weekend,I’m very pleased with it, looks awesome too, The only problem is that there is a hissing sound only really noticeable when i start to speed up, I’m not sure if there is a leak or its just louder because its thinner then the oem one?

I noticed the same sound, I think it is just due to the thinner metal you can acutally hear whats going on unlike the 1/4" cast iron

How is fitment up against your oil pan and crossmember? Mine is almost touching my oil pan and crossmember.

Its a liitle close to the oil pan but not the cross member I’ll have to keep an eye on it to see if its getting any heat damage, yeah that sound really bugs me

header is good, just like you said clearance is an issue. Get an aftermarket oilpan or just dent, and paint in your stock one like i did.

i got an 14" magnaflow with 2 1/4 inch piping from the cat back with stock cat and resonator (for now) and it sounds pretty awesome. Its got a low, beefy tone at lower rpm’s but when you get on it, it sounds mean. I’ll probably do the same as you (car sound cat and megan headers). Hook up a sound clip once youve got it all bolted up.

Soo bro you got any farther???
