RI DB1 Build. (Slow build and a lot of pictues)

What’s up, my names Seth, I’m a 20 year old Graphic Designer attending johnson & wales univ. I’ve been a member on the forums since 08. I’ve posted a few times here and there but i haven’t really introduced myself or posted anything about my car. I’ve been learning a lot from the forums and I’m finally starting my build after a lot of research. So first off thanks for the help!

First a little background on the Integra, Caution, i went into detail.

I’ve had my Integra since junior year of high school. Prior to me, the car was owned by an old lady who drove to work in Boston and drive home. Bought the car late 2007 with 65K on the Automatic Motor. :auto: Since I bought the car I’ve been daily driving it. I put on a lot of highway miles mostly due to college and work being decent commutes. Other than that I’ve been trying to baby it since i first got the keys.

1992 Acura Integra GS

Mileage: 104750 currently

Right after i bought her.

Right when I bought her I added a few parts here and there. Nothing special just small things that made the car one step closer to being back in OEM condition which was my first goal. In the Interior I placed Kenwood 6in Speakers (100 watt) in the front with Sony 6 in Speakers (120 watt) in the rear. Along with the Tweeters on driver/pass doors that came with the car.

While I was putting the stereo in I replaced the shifter cable that causes the cold weather problem that usually occurs with automatic transmissions. Then I started replacing parts in the engine and added a 93 LS Wing (which I regret). I replaced the power steering lines, oil breather can, water pump, motor mounts, all front and rear suspension components(except shocks), replaced the original axles from 1992, all the brake calipers and did rear hub job. All replaced with OEM Honda Parts; which my father and I put in. I then put in an AEM SRI and added Front & Rear Aero Speedway tower bars (genetic brand) but they do the job.

After that the car didn’t see any work during high school due to hockey and a gold diggen girlfriend. Seriously . My dad backed his GMC Serria into her hitting my front bumper with his trailer hitch. Still haven’t fixed this…

This summer I tried to get a lot of work done to the teg. I made a floor board out of wood and the OEM floor mat for the trunk (the plastic alone is to flimbys). On top of that i placed a 10" Sony Xplode powered by a brand new 320w Kenwood amp (40$ total for whole setup).

And this brings me to where I am now. With the car on jacks fresh off oil pan replacement due to a pot hole in jersey I hit while attending Waterfest. Along with a new oil pan I’m replacing the headers and radiator. I’m replacing the radiator with a short radiator from the 92-00 civics. I’ve also removed the AC lines. Ill post picture of the parts when they come in. I hope to help anyone that has questions to the best of my ability’s, but I’m still kind of a novice. I’ve got a lot of plans for this car hopefully soon. I feel like posted so much stuff that wasnted needed but when it comes to the teg its never enough. haha

Current picture of the engine bay. Taken when dropping header.

Nice! Looks a lot like mine minus the wheels. Sucks about the front end!

I recognise ur stereo set-up from the electronic trouble shooting threads.

Thanks teggykid!
and Dago what do you mean? I don’t think I posted my set up in there before.

I also started working on my shaved key handle. I plan on all my door handles being black and my drivers door the only door that has a key spot. I’m still in the process of sanding and painting too. I also put my yellow legend fog-light capsules on.

I think today I’m going to relocate my coolant reservoir and window washer fluid.

Oh, must be a similar amp set-up. I’m a bit of an audiophile. Like ur DB, keep up the good work.

Car is looking good and that does suck about the bumper. Did you fill the key hole on the front door handle? If so you could have just purchased a new or used rear door handle and put it on the front.

Thanks DagoAcura, my setup is a little weak im still new to all the audio stuff. But it does the job. Im looking into getting 6x9’s in the back ASAP. It bumps inside the car really well and its tunned nicely but outside unless the windows are open it doesnt sound like i have a sub; its perfect! and fgo4 that is a rear sedan handle.

a little update:
my headers are coming in aug 12th and my automatic transmission cooler is coming in the 10th. talking to JHP about my radiator had some issues with the transaction. :bang:. but that should be in sooon too. so i can have the car back on the road soon, man i miss crusin in my teg; Ive had no car for 3 weeks now. it sucks. Ill be buying my exhaust soon too, maybe next week.

This was the set-up I thot was urs, my bad. Looks similar.

Yea i do see the similarities.
Also, here is a little update on the build.
The transmission cooler from Mishimoto and my Megan-Racing headers came in today.
I’ll post the pictures of them when I get home. I might put the headers in tonight, depends on what’s going on at home.

My half rad will be in soon says JHP. I ordered my exhaust too nice dual tip, that should be in early next week.
When the exhaust comes in, I’m going to bring it to my local exhaust shop and have them replace my pipes from the headers back.

I think my next mods are gonna be the fuel filter, maybe fuel rail and fuel injectors. the tegs runing like it needs new injectors.

I have a question too, Now that I have I/H/E I was thinking of tuning the car. I have no idea what im doing with tuning and was wondering what I should do. Should I tune it myself, have someone tune it or just leave the car alone? I wont be boosting the motor due to it being a auto and that’d be no fun. My main goal with the car is to cruise in the car nothing to crazy. Any help would be appreciated!

So as promised here are the pictures

Just leave it. You wont really gain that much from a tune for bolt ons. Wait until you do some more stuff, fpr and pump, cams/cam gears. If you really want to learn about street tuning your car yourself, start by spending some (lots) time on pgmfi.org

Cool to see another RI guy on here, especially with a sedan. It doesnt seem like there’s too many of those rolling around. Good luck with the build.

ok Cool thanks for the info Eric. I’ve actually been on that site before, but never really read into it. I guess I’ll have to check it out then.

Ill be showing up with the teg at the RI and New England shows soon as I get her on the road again, which is hopefully this weekend.

Also picked these up today from gunitthonyda9  i cant wait to put then in, I’ve wanted these side skirts foreverrrr!

Ima kick his ass i was gona grab those from him but car looks good i gota front bumper for u lmk. N if u have any xtra 4dr parts lmk theres shit in ct for 4drs lmk keep up the wrk i got 2dbs and a da its a pain lol

Automatic is the best. All you gotta do is just build the engine don’t even dare put a VTEC head on it rather have all torque out car to push a sedan.

LSjdmteg - I’ll keep my head up for parts, I have the AC lines sitting around so if you need them or if anyone wants them I have them. And a few other parts I removed.

Legionnaire- That is actually what I plan on doing. a lot of motor work and no ls/vtec or anything like that. I’m actually the one guys in my naborhood that doesn’t think he needs Vtec. Maybe cause all of my friends are VW enthusiasts idk. but don’t get me wrong, i <3 B18c lol.

But here are the updates: my father and I put my half rad and my headers in yesterday.

The headers didn’t really give us a problem, it is a tight fit, but we got it on. I had to stretch my exhaust and remove part of my exhaust for the header to fit. When I get my muffler in I’m gonna go have a custom axle back exhaust set up made at my local exhaust shop.

Here is the the radiator with the transmission cooler attached and slim fan.

We made our own radiator brackets and cut part of the radiator support out so that the radiator would have a more secure spot to sit.

Below the radiator for support I put blow in foam and some thin rubber mat stuff. I cut the extra foam off. The picture below is before I cut the extra foam off.

QUESTION: I used the OEM harness for the radiator, but the fan wont turn on. Is there anything I’m not doing? I’d like to keep it on the Harness and not wire it to a switch.
ANSWER: I figured out why my fan wouldnt turn on. was in the wrong harness. now the car runs perfect.
the famous motor stamp photo.

today, I might put the side skirts on. but I’m feeling kinda lazy and I just want to cruise in the teg, its been a month today since the teg was off the road due to oil pan issues.
I also have a huge excel sheet that I’ve been creating for the past four months with the mods/parts I want to put in, I think I’ll post up my future considerations soon.

Good work on the aftermarket performance upgrades but you are wasting your money on the car audio system should go with a Autotek amplifier that show the RMS(Real Power) rather than the Maximum Power which is consider fake power.

Well actually I’ve only spent 40$ on my audio setup and it sounds perfect. All of the parts were given to me, expect for the sub; I bought that for 40$ from a friend who also gave me my front speakers… My head unit was from my old Altima that I totaled, the amp & Sony rear speakers were from my brothers 91 si he had when I was, I think 16. But thanks for the advice I’ll definitely look into RMS when I buy my 6x9’s to replace my rear 6" speakers.

Update on Build

Well today was a good day, my exhaust came in from Statracing. I decided to get a Megan Racing Exhaust to compliment the Megan Headers I have. I also got a huge promotion at work, I am now a Graphic Designer for AMICA Insurance, I’ve been in the Copy Center for 2.5 years now and I guess my boss gave them my portfolio and they liked it. AMICA is really hard to get into and get promotions especially for a 20 year old. :ot:

but enough of that, here are some pictures. I’m getting the exhaust put on Monday, so ill have pictures of it on the car then. I’m also putting a DynoMax cat put on it. The tips will be hidden I think about an inch will be sticking out other than that it should be a low profile exhaust. hopefully it doesn’t sound like a rice burner :cross:

I’m still debating what to do next now, I’ve been looking into air ride or a nice Koni/GC setup. I’d love to have this car on bags. Slamming this car is a priority! I also haven’t put the side skirts on, I think I’m going to put them on tomorrow cause I have the day off. who knows.

please dont use that muffler

wanna buy some OEM sedan window visors with all hardware??
