I think I remember you saying something about getting a Miracle crossbar… I just noticed that ICB is taking pre-orders right now and figured I’d give you a heads up.

Judging by the pictures running one of those would entail no more hatch struts. Is there anyway around that?
That’s a good point, I didn’t notice that. Two of my friends have this bar but I never asked if the hatch struts still fit with them or not.
Yeah thats where I’ve been planning on ordering from, I just figured I’d try looking for one a little more locally first. Thanks for thinking of me though Colin! Are they not usually available through icb? I’ve looked at their site like a dozen times over the last few months… Haha
I’m not sure why the picture of the bar installed on the DA doesn’t have hatch struts but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work with them. All the other chassis pictures show similar hatch strut setups that seem to work ok with the bar.
edit- actually based on how our struts attach that might pose a problem. Hmm
Since I’m posting in here anyway, here’s a couple parts that have come in recently…
Jdp oe2, esp traction bar, OEM ITR mc, greddy shift knob
Might be worth taking a peek at Dustin’s thread… I know his xbar is custom but he may well have notated something about the hatch struts.
Yeah, for some reason it mounts to where the hatch struts mount instead of the rear seat belts like most c-pillar bars. I could ask my friends if you’d like. As for availability, I’m not positive, but I didn’t know it was something you could even order for the DA anymore. And I haven’t seen one for sale second hand in years. I could totally be wrong though, maybe ICB has been able to get them for awhile.
What’s the story with that JDP lip? I thought they only made them in carbon, and that one looks poly/plastic or maybe it’s just painted already? Mind if I ask what it cost you? They don’t have pricing on the site. I’ve been thinking of just getting the fake JDP OE1 since it’s not worth it to buy a nice CF piece that I’ll likely just destroy soon anyway. But if JDP now sells them in plastic or fiberglass I might buy from them.
ICB shows them as being available but who knows, I guess they could let you place an order and then cancel it afterwards if they’re not available. I’ve never had that issue with ICB in the past but I’ve only ordered a couple things from them before. I don’t see the hatch strut removal as a huge problem, an inconvenience yes, but I could live without them if it meant X bar instead… I’ll have to check Dustins thread or shoot him a text about the mounting points though. I’d definitely prefer to have hatch struts. He may have mounted his to the seatbelt bolts though.
As for the jdp lip, it is fiberglass. I believe John gives you the option of ordering anything he stocks in fiberglass as opposed to carbon fiber. I’m planning to paint match it anyway so the carbon finish didn’t matter to me at all. It was about $270 shipped to me compared to the $320 for the carbon fiber version so not a huge cost savings but cheaper. If I was planning to run a dedicated track lip I’d probably opt for the knockoff lips because they’re a lot cheaper.
Indeed, I wasn’t sure where he mounted his at… figured it was worth a look though!
Always diggin the updates and new parts dude!
Let me help answer some of your questions guys…

I ran into this exact issue when I picked up my Miracle X bar. For those who don’t know, I own the very bar that is pictured on ICB’s website, albeit that pic was taken back when FF-Greg owned it. The hardware that Next! provides with their Miracle X bar is too short to keep your hatch struts; you have to get longer hardware.
Here’s a pic back when I first installed my Miracle X bar:
But like you mentioned rollin, it’s “an inconvenience, yes” to have to hold the hatch or prop it up every time you need to get inside/do some work.
I thought I could live without them as well since I was happy with my new X bar, but it was quite the annoyance and after posting some pictures of my new purchase on NWP, I was told that with longer bolts you can utilize the hatch struts and run the Miracle X bar.
Jason (better known as .J.), one of the friends that Colin mentioned, shared this with me:
I then sent Jason a PM regarding his post and here’s some of what he said:
"Racebolts.com is what you’re looking for and the bolt that fits in that rear trunk stay threaded hole is a 10mm. I think, if I remember correctly, I bought an M10 1.25MM and 45MM long. That is usually something that Racebolts stocks, but you DON’T HAVE TO BUY TI. That was just some stupid thing that DAve and I did because, well, we’re assholes like that.
You can probably source something local to you that will accommodate the stay and the Miracle bar hardware. Take a look at your stock bolt in there and then add 10MM of length to what ever it measures, and that’s basically what I did for DAve and I.
Here is the link to the style of bolt you’d want, if you decide to be that same kind of A-hole, but lord knows you don’t have to.
http://www.racebolts.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=623_635_640&products_id=232"
Taking Jason’s advice, I purchased the bolts (the titanium ones because I felt like I’d join the A-hole party) and these are what showed up:
I then removed the Miracle X bar, re-attached the hatch struts and reassembled everything using the new elongated bolts and everything fit perfectly.
Like aforementioned, you don’t have to purchase the titanium version bolts, nor the exact bolts that RaceBolts sells. You can go to your local hardware store and buy whatever fits your budget, provided that they’re a M10, 1.25mm and 45mm long. The link that Jason sent me above will take you right to RaceBolt’s site if those are the one’s you’re looking at purchasing.
To answer some other questions…
Like Colin mentioned, trying to find a used DA model Miracle X bar is near impossible nowadays since they’re so scarce. For the longest time ICB didn’t have any Miracle X Bars for the DA for sale; they were, at the time, indefinitely sold out. It wasn’t until late 2012 when Next! updated their bars and changed to their new badge when Matt started taking pre-orders for them again. Since 2013, they’ve been available for purchase in both the Type 1 and Type 2 options. This is a new option for the DA because originally, Next! only offered the DA6 model bar in the Type 1 option. I’d love to see a Type 2 version but seeing how I already have one and how expensive they are ($700 before shipping), I doubt I’ll see one anytime soon.
You sir are the man! That was a very helpful answer to all my questions and I appreciate it! Seems you always drop in with just the info I’m looking for.
Looks like its time to place another order…
Well, shit… There ya go!
Erik killing it with knowledge! Thanks Holmes. While you’re here… We gonna see a new look for your car soon? I just caught those pics you posted about mounting your jdp lip and noticed you were rocking some TE’s.
Great info on the miracle x bar. I have always seen the bar installed but ever car was missing the lift shock. This was something I didn’t like and that’s the reason that was keeping me away.
Guess what I just ordered?.. :naughty:
lol
You’re welcome man, glad I can chime in at the right moments! You guys built that one up for me. Looking back at some saved PM’s that Jason and I had regarding the topic, he continued to say:
“Did you post this information up in a thread anywhere? I never take the time to write down all of these things we learn about and I’m sure you’re not the only one that would like to keep their trunk struts.”
So I’m glad I can help address the issue, apparently it’s a big item of concern to current and future Miracle X bar owners.
Thanks Colin! Seeing how Jason and I talked about it so much, it’s only fair to share the knowledge and help other enthusiasts out. Regarding my car, if you’ve seen it with the ES Tarmacs then that’s my latest look. Back in the summer of 2012 my buddy let me rock his TE37’s for a bit. Not much after, I had a mishap and damaged my USRacing front lip so I purchased a JDP lip as a spare to use in the meantime. While that lip was installed my Tarmac’s came in and I’ve been rockin’ them ever since. I would like to own a set of black TE’s in the near future though… espeically the Flat Black 16x7 +31 ones Matt just posted up on ICB…
Without trying to thread jack anymore than I have, here’s a couple pics of when I had on the TE’s and the JDP lip.
Glad I could help you out as well man. It doesn’t profit one person to keep info to himself, especially when so many people are aware of an issue.
Funny, I usually hate white wheels on red cars but love those Tarmac’s on your car. And actually I don’t like those TE’s much on your car, I think its the blue stickers maybe. White, blue, or black would all look great on your car with black or red stickers, or maybe even just red lugs to sorta tie the wheel to the body. I was looking at TE’s on ICB again this morning. I’ve wanted a set for awhile but just don’t want to fork over the $$. Tempted to sell my CE’s I just had painted to fund the purchase though, lol.
Oh, and I like that you removed those rubber guard things on your wheel arches

Beautiful car. I also agree with Colin on how it look better without the rubber guards on the wheels arches. On the other hand I prefer the TE’s mostly because of the color (not the actual wheel.) Im not a big fan of white wheels.
Sorry Michael. Had to comment on OldskoojdmDA9 car. lol
I love both of those sets of wheels on your car! I dig the white on red combo a lot though, makes me miss my old beater LS.
So a bit of an update on my seat rails. The drivers side is not done but its tacked together and so I wanted to mock it up to make sure everything was going to work with the seat and car before spending more time on it. Seems like it’ll work great. Height, adjustability, and levelness are perfect. Time to finish them up!
