I am getting about 5 lbs of boost at full throttle and my A/F goes lean. If i slowly floor it, I can get it stay rich. I have only a Field fuel controller and I have it set at 4000 rpms up at 25% all the way. I need to know what the best setup would be. I gave a BBK intank fuel pump and a SX fuel regulator that i havent installed yet. I will defintely install the fuel pump. I was considering getting a boost dependent FMU or should i just use the SX regulator. Should i keep the Field or get and AFC. Should i get 310 injectors and just use the Field to lean it out with the SX or what? I just need some opinions or what are you guys using for fuel. Thanks and soory for the long post, I’m a newbie to turbo and I want to do this right :).
Definately get a boost dependent FMU with at least a 8:1 or 10:1 disk. That should cure your top end lean problem. May also, want to think about an inline fuel pump to handle the high pressures that the FMU are going to cause under boost. Also, read your plugs, your A/F gauge may be lying to you. As far as Fuel controllers go, the FIELDS should do the job, SAFC is just a fancier unit that basically does the same job. Depending on where you eventually want your setup, 310’s should be fine for moderate boost levels.
Install the FPR and bump up your idle fuel pressure. If you weren’t able to get enough fuel, your car wouldn’t be able to stay rich at WOT even if you just rolled into it. It is going lean if you just hammer it because the fuel is lagging behind your acceleration curve. You’ll be running a little richer at idle but the computer should compensate for the most part and you wont have such a problem when you jump on it.
310’s at 5psi without a controller or lowering your fuel pressure quite a bit is going to be overkill.
