I have searched and couldn’t find anything. If you can, feel free to send the link. I have a 92 integra gsr with I/H/E. It has 125 original miles on the car. I am looking into going turbo. If my engine is stock, would I have to re build my motor before going turbo? or does it matter on the type of turbo kit I would buy?
I put a turbo on my stock b18a with 260,000 kms on the motor. ran 10 psi for 6 monthes with an already semi-blown head gasket.
There really is no telling what condition your motor is in, unless you rip it apart. I’m sure someone else can give more advice but I recommend lowering your compression first.
As for which kit, I strongly recommend staying away from the ebay kits I spent maybe $300 more for a good pieced together kit with credible parts ( HKS, Turbonetics, etc.
If you have the money to burn on a full kit, you will be paying alot for the name but they typically come with litterly everything…well almost.
yes, like the one i’m selling. The turbo kit i have for sale was designed (by turbonetics) to run on a stock b18 with stock internals and was designed to give about 240 hp on the safe side. with that said, it depends on what was said previously. i’m not sure what you mean by 125 original miles, though.
His compression is low enough.
120,000 miles I think is what he meant to say.
What kind of kit are you selling? Can you shoot me an e-mail?
It just meant that I have 125K. I didn’t know if it was bad to turbo a high millage car. I was planning on going k series swap (k20a2) from Hmotorsonline. After reading most of the threads, I have learned you can go turbo for cheaper, and turbo gives you more WHP. I have 2K right now. I wouldn’t buy a turbo kit from ebay, So it is safe to put a turbo on a stock motor? and any one have any suggestions on what brand I should get?
VTEC, no one is really going to answer your question because it’s loaded.
The people on there that knows their shit about turbo charging, will only correct wrong information, not make a recommendation as to if it’s safe or not to turbo charge your motor.
I pretty sure you just sank your ship with the K20 swap comment, but I’m sure you will be forgiven in time. -lafz. If you feel that your engine is strong/healthy and not bleeding oil the you’re on the right track.
Yes… it is a poor idea to turbo charge a “high mileage car” but that depends on what you consider high mileage.
What ever your choice is man… I’m sure you’ll have the support of the G2IC members.
go ahead and turbo it…im sure as long as you get it tuned correctly, and not boost the snot out of it, it should be fine. you don’t have to lower your compression ratio…people boost high comp motors all the time.
its in the for sale section. on the bottom of the first page, beginning of second page. here’s the link. i’ll email it when i get home in case you don’t see it here

the kit was meant to be a complete bolt-on for a g3 teg, which probably means that the charge pipes will have to be made to fit somehow. the kit will fit a g3 and allows you to keep power steering and A/C
who the hell thinks the b17 is a high compression motor stock? go research the specs and your ignorance on this subject will no longer exist.
what is everyones misconception with high mileage honda motors…come on now they run forever, i had a 92 ls integra with 219k on it put a drag t3/t4 kit on it ran fine, i have a all motor db2 92 gsr with 250k on it still runs like new…in the end if the compression is good across the head then boost it and let it eat!!!
to answer any of your questions it all comes down to how much money you have. if you want reliablity and high hp then build it. cheap, faster and if it blows it blows then boost it the way it is. if your wallet can handle spending alot on quality parts that will function properly and last then go with tial, greddy, hks, etc.
