from 1990 integra owner’s manual - Seat Belt Limited Warranty
Seat Belt Limited Warranty
While seat belts cannot eliminate all injury, they can provide a
very significant level of protection when used properly. Acura
believes that seat belt use is the best method of enhancing
occupant safety, and that seat belts should always be in good
operating order for use by vehicle occupants.
This warranty is given only to the owner of a 1990 Acura
automobile distributed by American Honda through the Acura
Automobile Division, and sold by an authorized Acura automobile
dealer in the United States, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin
Islands.
Time Period
This warranty continues for the useful life of the car.
Warranty Coverage
Acura will repair or replace, at its option, any Acura seat belt that
fails to function properly during normal use, free of charge for
parts and labor.
This Warranty Does Not Cover:
Malfunction due to abuse, alteration, accidental damage or damage resulting from a collision, or misuse.
Replacement of a properly functioning seat belt because of cosmetic or comfort reasons.
yeah i found this out when the latch on my lap belt broke on my 90 LS. I took it in expecting a big charge but he told me there was a recall, and replaced both free, even though the right one wasnt broken.
yeah, i had to have one of my buckles fixed awhile back. yes free of charge… however it wasn’t worth dealing with acura. I would have been more willing to buy the part and install it myself.
The driver seat belt got stuck forward on my friend’s 90 RS and he called the dealer and the dealer said it would cost like $60 an hour to trace down the problem and he asked them about the belts having a lifetime warranty and they said it was only for electrical problems. I looked at it and found a piece of the rubber track seal got stuck in the track and I took that out and it works fine. I HATE the Acura dealer here in Louisiana and the closest other dealership is over an hour away. I do all my own work but I had to deal w/ those a$$holes w/ my girl’s 98 LS when it was under warranty.

that dealer is shi+. anything involving the seatbelts is covered under warranty. Doesn’t matter if its the electric parts of the system, the belts, the buckles… its covered. You should chew them out.
My driver side shoulder seatbelt is kinda shredding a little where it goes into the retractor. Do you think that is covered or am I SOL cause it is wearing out and not a defect?
This website gets better every day!!! You guys were right when you said it was addictive.I had no idea that the seatbelts were under warranty.I called King Acura in Birmingham,AL,and made the appt. to get my belts fixed. My driver shoulder belt would go forward when I opened my door, but would not go back when I closed it.I thought I was just stuck with clicking and unclicking everytime I got in and out.The best part is that it is FREE!!! Can’t get any better than that.In the last month I not only repaired my teg by using this site ,but now I am gettin free stuff from the dealer! Keep the info comin!!! Later!!!

That only happens when you drive like a mad man. To avoid this, take you right hand and pull the shoulder belt down towards your right hip, this will releave the pressure on the mechanism and allow the seatbelt to retract normally.
heh,Heh! Your right.Gettin out of my car has taken one extra step for about a year now.I had to roll the belt back with the handy little tool that acura seemed to know would be needed, and unhook the damn thing every time i got out of the car!But no more.I’m gettin that s…t fixed next week.I’ve never had a problem with the belt locking up though. No matter how I drove.Which most of the time isn’t what Johnny Law thinks is appropriate.

Hahaha, I took this girl on a date and she was putting something in her purse when I turned the car on…
Or once, I was in a drive thru and the stupid girl behind the counter coudn’t reach her studdy hands far enough to give me my change so I opened the door…
all kidding asside, i think acura designd that, cuz the seatbelt only trys to kill you when you just slammed on the brakes to stop, then turn off your motor before your done stopping, mine, literally, posessed by the devil, tried to kill me, i got pissed at something, and pulled into my work parking lot like a madman, turned off car, slammed on breaks, and the seatbelt halfway went down, but the halfway is where it goes up or some crpa and it was choking the hell out of me.
hm now that i think about it this isnt a very good thing. maybe i should include the following if i sell the car:
WARNING: THE 1990 TO 1993 ACURA INTEGRA CAN CHOKE YOU TO DEATH. PLEASE EXCERCISE CAUTION AND SLOWLY REACH UP AND RELEASE THE SHOULDER BELT LATCH. SITTING AIMLESSLY MAY CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY AND MAY LEAD TO DEATH.
WE AT ACURA ARE STRIVING OUR BEST TO OFFER SEATBELT REPAIRS AT NO COST. PLEASE CONTACT YOUR LOCAL ACURA DEALER IF THE CHOKE OF DEATH APPLIES. PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE WHILE BEING CHOKED, AS IT MAY INTERFERE WITH SAFE DRIVING AND DISTRACT OTHERS EVENTUALLY LEADING TO AN ACCIDENT.
