Yea i just went to the acura dealer and they told me i will have to pay 150 for them to check it out and see wats the problem. And told me That not everything is covered so i was like nevermind. As soon as i got out of there i called acura and they told me the warrentie covers everything related to the seatbelt but will have to give the money so they could check it and then the as soon as they see its a problem with the belts the warrenty covers everything related to the belts even the motor and also cover the diagnostic. They gave me a case number and everything just in case the stupid dealer ship doesnt want to.
ever lean in through the open window to turn the ignition off?..it chokes me everytime…hahha
my belts are pretty dirty…is that covered under warranty?
Hahahaha…yessr…
Took the teg to the Acura dealer to get my LIFETIME WARRANTY seatbelts fixed. When I plug in the seatbelt computer all it does is beep and the seatbelt light blinks and the tracks dont move at all. Get a call and this is how the conversation goes:
Dealer: “Sorry to inform you but we cant get the seatbelt track thru the dealer anymore. Its discontinued.”
Me: “Its not the seatbelt tracks both were changed and they were in working condition and the seatbelt computer too. Something else is wrong.”
Dealer: " Yea im not sure why but they discontinued the tracks and arent available thru the dealer anymore. Might wanna try a junkyard maybe they might have some."
Me: " Its not the seatbelt tracks how are they both gonna go bad and I know for a fact they were in working condition."
Dealer: " I was told they arent available thru us anymore."
Me: " Are you fucking retarded I told you three times that its not the seatbelt track. So I told him I was gonna go get my car and hung up."
When I got there i was surprised to have found my car washed and vacuumed for free by them. Still pissed off about the seatbelt shit though. So I dont know what imma do now.
Call acura’s customer relations and see what they say.
Yea im gonna try tommorow hopefully there open if not then Monday first thing.
I get this too randomly when it wants to. Usually the passenger side where the wife is on.
Sometimes when u open the door it would just stay stuck until u release the button.
I gotta find out if dealer would fix this as well…Othewise i have to swap out and go with the manual kind. Any write up on that?
I just read 7 pages of this, and only read one post that tells me “possibly” what the the cause may be of this happening…
“If your driverside seatbelt wont return to starting position try this: open the little access panel behind the drivers seat. It will be about knee heighth if you were sitting behind the drivers seat. Open the panel to expose the seatbelt motor, chances are it will be wrapped in blue plastic. Now comes the technical part… Wiggle the motor around by grabbing the plastic and knock it around pretty good; its kinda like jiggling the handle on a broken toilet! There’s a decent chance that your problem is a loose connection somewhere in the vicinity of the motor… worked like a charm for me!”
Can anyone give any reason why this happens, and what can be done to fix it, beside taking it to an Acura dealership, and be given the run-around on why they don’t cover it…? Has anyone actually taken this apart and found a cause for the seatbelt staying in the down position? If so, what did you do to fix it?
Also, I bought a Haynes manual for my DA yesterday, and looked all through it for something about the shoulder seatbelts, and couldn’t find anything. Not even in the wiring schematics… Someone help please. Thanks in advance.
Bump! Came across this digging around all the crap I have:
Reposting again if this will help u guys…
this is when having a friend in canada is a great thing to have.
my manual seatbelts only sometimes get stuck inside the latch tho.
it doesnt try to choke me to death tho. and thats all that matters.
i wonder if any of the other honda cars seatbelts are interchangeable, like from an EG of EF
I’ve got the same problem with my '90 Teg. Service guy at Sunnyvale Acura, where azzurribaggo got his fixed, tells me the lap belt is covered but the shoulder may not be. But I should bring it in so they can analyze it, sezzee.
Hopkins Acura in Redwood City told me the lap belt is covered but shoulder is not. He said it’s expensive to fix ($600 maybe), they have to remove the headliner etc etc. He urged me to bring it in.
National Acura Customer Service guy on the phone had to look it up and was not sure, he may be a newbie.
I have the manual that mrpenny posted and it says the same thing – “Acura will repair or replace… any Acura selt belt that fails to function properly … free of charge…” That looks pretty easy to interpret.
So why do the service guys give me the runaround? I suspect we know why.
maybe cally isn’t the land of milk & honey?
I just got my shoulder belt replaced including the whole track assembly for FREE. The only problem I had was that there was also a beeping (from the seatbelt sensor) and the tech couldn’t figure it out- It was actually an unplugged wire under the seat (found the cure here, thanks G2IC!)
On another note- Acura does not make the door latch mechanisms anymore, The tech told me that it has a microswitch that controls the auto seatbelts. I had to go to a JY and find the latch from a GS (or GS-R if your lucky) and the tech put it in for me… Now my seatbelts work great, plus the passenger side belt is NEW.
all this cost me was $9.70 at the JY…
BTW I went to Fountain Acura in Orlando- Rich was the tech and he was a really good guy…
I went to have mine fixed today, and was told that it would not be covered under warranty by the dealership. I then called Acura corporate and was told the the dealership was correct and they would not cover any seat belt repairs. Has something changed in regard to coverage. The dealer was the one in Athens, Ga.
what did you go to have fixed? the same problem everyone else had? All hondas have lifetime warranties on the seatbelts but there has to be a problem. It must be broken in someway for warranty to cover it. If it’s not broken or they can’t find anything wrong with it (which BTW technicians HATE warranty work because they don’t make any money on it so they don’t look very hard) then your outta luck and you will probably have to pay the check out charge if the dealership sucks.
The belts will not move back if the door is closed, the dealer was able to duplicate the problem, but said only the belt buckles are covered. It is the same problem everyone has with there g2, my dealer just sucks and the girl on the phone at Acura even said she did not know, but dosent believe that any part on my car could still be under warranty.
I have found that the dealerships in smaller towns are much more accommodating than those in large cities. If there’s one nearby that you don’t mind checking out, give them a call.
Man thats just wrong for them to do that.
Print out the picture above and show that to them.
Call corporate acura again. Maybe you spoke to a newbie or a person who had a bad day. Acura always stands by their word mostly.
ohh… And they will charge you al least 100 dollars to diognose it. At least here in CALI.
you’ll have to okay the $100 checkout charge up front but if it is covered under warranty then you wont have to pay that.
That is correct.
Clarification: They’ll charge 100 dollars if any work is done. Which I think they shouldn’t charge at all. Defeats the purpose “FREE WARRANTY”. Well I guess the techs have to get paid.
