im going to get on the bandwagon here too. ('92 gs) I have the same problem. When i accelerate at any speeds in any gear i have vibration until around 40-45 mph, then it goes away. Motor mounts have been replace as well as both axles. yes they were cheap axles but they were brand new not reman. I also swapped em again and got new ones again since they were warrantied. Ok so i talked to a honda mechanic and he says it sounds like a differential problem. One thing…when i replace the drive side axle it was seized into the intermediate shaft. One thing im thinking is replacing the intermediate shaft again…maybe it wasnt balanced and it seems like thats when i notice the vibration was after i replace the driver side axel with the shaft…so maybe the shaft i got was bad. I found a few people with them they all want $60 for em. I jsut want this vibration to go away!!! but i dont wanna throw money at something thats not the problem. And yes this only happens when i accelerate…HELP!!!
My car starts to shake at around 40 mph as I ease off the gas it stops. When I give it gas it’s worse than when it started all the way till I get to 75-80 mph. So long as i stay above 80 mph I’m good. I took it to the Honda Specialist and was told my tie rods are the culprit and it will cost $295 to fix including the alignment.
ok so guess only the timing belt side mount and insert was replaced. I looked at the other 2 and they look ok…i guess, lol. Im not a fan of taking my car somewhere infact id rather work on it in a parking lot than take it to a mechanic. Problem is im not really sure what im looking for…ive jacked up the car, wheels dont move in or our at all which from what i gather mean my ball joint are fine, ive replace my rotors and pads, had my wheels and tires balanced and ive had an alignment done. car is lowered on megan racing coil sleves and kyb gr2’s…on a side note i want to switch to springs if anyone has any…and no camber kit in the front. But the car had the vibration before i swapped the suspension. On another note i drove the car today and this is what happened…i let it warm up for 10-15 minutes before even driving anywhere. When i pulled out from driveway there was no vibration at all, i even revved it 5-6k and still no vibration. then when i got to the library (2-3 miles away) and left there the vibration was back…seems to be this way, like its not there until i drive the car for a bit. And every once in awhile it goes away but for the most part its there until i hit about 40-45 mph, then its gone. But it does seem to be getting worse…so…HELP ME!!!..plz
could be yer misfiring or somthing. i drove my car for like a week and it was all jerky and what not. i found out later that i was misfiring because my sparkplug wires were messed up.
i checked the boots on the valve cover end, there all good…ill pull the ones on the distributor tomorrow and pull the cap off…i really dont think its that. Im gonna try and save some $, then get all three mounts and inserts and empi axles. But i have a sneaky…real sneaky suspiscion that it will still be there…:wtf:
the axles i put in are cheap ones…i dont even remember the brand…but they are not remans, they’re brand new ones. And i swapped the drivers side with another new one since thery were warrantied and still no change in the vibration…
LOL! i know what you did, the samething happened to me. i though my ball joints were toast but it was because i didnt tourque the bolts down at all. might want to check that out. or see if you even have the right axels/
ok so i checked everything, no loose bolts and yes i have the right axel…ive replace it twice just to make sure. I had it up on a lift the other day, didnt notice any play going into the diff so i dont think its that or the tranny. I guess the thing to do is jack the wheels up, put it in gear and accelerate…and see if i can see a wobble in the halfshaft or the axel??? only problem is i dont have a garage to work in nor do i know anybody that could even remotely understand what im doing to help me. My ex is from vancouver not me!!, lol. All i know is this vibration thing is really starting to annoy me…and its robbing my ponies to the wheel!!!
Have you check to make sure the wheel is balanced. Do a tire rotation and see if the vibration move to anther part of the car.
Did you new axels come with the dampening dounut in the middle? most dont and even thought they are new will still cause a vibration sensation under partial and full throttle.
LOL, its so annoying isnt it?..ok so if I bought some good axles like empi axles or raxles then would they have that dampening doughnut your talking about? Also, im not sure if this is related but the other day i grabbed a front upper strut brace that actually fits our DA’s…now keep in mind that i have both uppers on now in the fron and the rear, but when i corner kinda hard its like im driving a rear-wheel drive car, its really wierd. I own an '86 e30 bmw and it feels like that!! I rounded the corner and my ass end slid out and i went around the corner sideways, ROFL, it was badass but none the less wierd. Is that because of both braces on there now…or could that possibly related to the vibration that im having. I really hate to say it but this DA is starting to get the best of me…
raxels are great and yes they do have the dampening doughnut, but keep in mind you need to inform them ahead of time if your droped or expexting to put down power levels that are greater then stock.
So, from what I’ve read so far, everything seems to point towards the axles. Is it possible that in the event of it not being the axles it could something else? I dunno, crankshaft seals or something more serious? I don’t want to be pessimistic, but I do want to contemplate all scenarios here. Ignoring a more serious problem for optimism doesn’t make the problem go away. I’m gonna hope I simply had 4 bad axles, cuz I’ve swapped mine out and same 40-60mph wobble/tremor.
