so, the normal “high beam” wire from the bulb harness and a ground connect to the two wires coming out of the housing i take it?
VI Massive: what kind of clear coat was this? is there an application process? can this be done on my own?
I have that “haze” on mine after the renewing as well…I was going to live with it until I saw your’s looking so immaculate.
So with that retrofit how do you go about adjusting the vertical level of the beam? Or was that taken care of in your test fit before the cover was put back on?
90DA-Pedro explained it pretty well. The two Red wires seen are connected to the solenoid. All I did was connect it to the factory high beam wire. When current flows through those wires, it creates an electro magnetic field. This pulls the shield down letting all the light from the HID Bulb “shine” through the projector. The HID system itself just stays on…There is no High or low beam from the bulb or HID system. There are kits available with Bi-xenon HID bulbs, but they are expensive and more complex. This is the reason why car manufactures are going with shutters/solenoids in their headlights…it lowers the cost and reduces the complexity of their headlight system.
willbad, I had someone(professional) from a body shop apply the clear coat. From what I understand, it’s regular clear coat.
cam_man, my goal was to mount the projector in the center piece of the headlight. Therefore when I install it back into the one-piece housing, I can use the pre-existing/factory aiming screws.
I wonder if clear coat from a rattle can will suffice?
theres is a teg tip way to retrofit… this was my way =) http://www.g2ic.com/forums/showthread.php?t=161858
i did almost the exact same but with the tsx. i guess i will have to add my part soon
looks good, im gonna start making some kits soon. I just need to find where i can get projectors cheap and ill be on my way. Where did u get you projectors from?
I got them from ebay and they were relatively priced.
i got mine local for 40 praticily stole them
Hey VI Massive, I need some assistance with this retrofit, and being that i have the same projectors as you, I was hoping you could help me.
Wow, I have not checked this thread in a while. Whats your question?
Yeah, i noticed the thread was kind of old but the email in your info was invalid…thanks for the response…
anyway…did you use a Dremel to trim down the projector on the sides? i see you trimmed down the back of the projector, how do the HID bulbs seat into the projector w/o the clips that were originally there? and finally, what in the hell is that yellow wire on the back of the projector for? i know red is for the solenoid but…yea…
thanks!
I have a question, OP.
Why did you don sand down the lines within the lens?
Those lines are to spread the light with a halogen bulb.
I have seen people sand them down and polish them and
they get a clear lens and it makes the hid results so much nicer.
Just wondering!
thanks

Yep, The dremel is your best friend. I used it to trim every and any aspect of the projector. When I ordered my HID system, I made sure it was H4H to fit my JDM 1-Piece headlight. Therefore I had to cut the back of my projector so that it could sit as far back as possible to the HID Bulb. That yellow wire, I have no Idea what it is. From what I understand, it’s some kind of ground. I did not use it and my solenoids work fine.

I thought about that, and there is a thread on how someone else did that, but the truth is, I did not want to take the chance. It’s risky enough that i’m taking a pefectly good one-piece headlight and cutting it to fit a projector. I think I’d do more harm trying to sand down those flutes.
Ohh cool thanks alot…I’m about to get into this project, I’m hoping it comes out as nice as yours
I know this is an old thread but I figured I would bring it back to see how the clear coat on those one pieces is holding up after all of this time?
make sure you have someone do it, or else.
mine
before restoration
before clear coat(after restoration)
after clearcoat
now, after trying to restore these
any one have anyone pieces for sale?
