Sleeves?

I bought a “fully built sleeved” B20 from this guy a while back. The engine was turboed when I got it running very well at 8psi. The other day me and my friends turned the boost up to 16psi and tuned it. Ran very good for two 3rd gear pulls, after the 3rd pull it started to smoke a good amount. We go do a compression test on it and the numbers are all low, 120 and below on all cylinders. There was oil on the tops of each piston. The engine was making a terrible clunking noise also. So we pulled the head off and I saw stock B20 sleeves that were cracked in between each cylinder. The pistons have a lot of play inside the cylinder too, I hope thats what the clunking noise was. So now my question to everyone is, What sleeves should I buy and can I just buy sleeves and have them put in myself? I would like to keep this block and just sleeve it and put new pisons and rings in and bearings if needed. Thanks for your input.

what you should do it take the block out of the car and trow that thing through the guy’s front door. as far as i know, you can buy sleeves and get them put in.

the b20 block has the weakest sleevs out of all honda motors. If that crack is all the way down to base good luck I would just junk it and get a b18 and sleeve it out to 84

but hit exospeed or golden eagle but its going to cost some change

you better hope that the sleeve is not cracked all the way down. there are some sleeve shops that won’t touch it, so before you go on wishing, take the pistons and rods out and take some good detailed pics to send to these companies before you send the block, because if they can’t save it, they’ll just send it back. your in PA, send that block to Z10!!!closer for you and they install AEBS sleeves.

I was looking at Dartons web site (dartonsleeves.com) for just the sleeve kit because I can have them put in at a local machine shop. I found that they dont make any for a B20, but they have them for the B18 with an 84mm bore and thats the stock B20 bore size. I was wondering if they would fit in the B20 becuase the stroke is the same in the B18 and B20, they make up the 0.2L in bore size.

It might be just as good to get a whole new block. Not sure how cost effective it is to ship your block back and forth.

GE FTW with O-rings

I was looking into the GE’s or Bensons because they are cheaper than dart. A sleeved block is a sleeved block in my book, I just want it to take maybe 20psi for now but be very reliable. Im going to call around and get some prices and I’m going to call a lawyer tomorrow to see if I can sue the guy for false advertising in the add. Dude said it was a sleeved jdm B20 with scat crank, block girdle, eagle rods, and JE pistons. The only thing it has is JE pistons. All the rods are bent and they are just LS rods and crank. Very pissed right now.

that really sucks. I hope you get it all taken of.

what are those transparent plastic hoses?

im sure it was for the VC
to Catchcan breather system

Yes, they are for the oil catch can. There are 2 fittings on the front of the valve cover they go to.

that’s what i thought. in the 3rd before last pic, they look to be coming out of the block.
