well i’m wanting to get new plug wires, but dont like those cheap ones that dont stay on the distributor cap (u know the ones that come off right after u push them on??).
i’m just wanting to know what you guys recommend.
i really like the stock plug wires by Sumitomo, but i really dont know where to get those. plus i’m wanting some blue wires and those are red.
suggestions and critiques on what everyone is using?? thanks.
i did do a search and came up with nothing on this topic.
SE-37K,
did you like the Magnecor’s ?
as far as increase in power, no sparkplug wire will increase power… they just will insure that your are getting your max current to your spark plugs…
at least this is what i’ve been reading in the research i’ve been doing.
i’m looking for plug wires that are good and fit like factory plugwires. and that i can get in blue instead of red
The Magnecore’s fit just like the OEM wires which I hear is a problem with a lot of the aftermarket wires.
They were the 8.5mm in red.
True, no wire will make power, they’ll just recover what would have been lost to bad ones or if you have an aftermarket ignition, I’ve seen new wires smooth out dyno charts.
Nology HotWires. They consist of nothing other than grounded metal braiding over part of the ignition wires’ insulating jacket. There’s no separate capacitors included with the wires. The bits that screw on are usually European connectors (with resistors inside). We at Magnecor don’t recommend capacitors be fitted to any ignition wires.
Metal braiding over ignition cable does cause a crude “capacitor” effect, which is of no use to your engine even if is was true it could shorten the spark duration (which is controlled solely by the ignition amplifier), as your engine runs best with the spark duration as close as possible to the original ignition. Integras don’t like Nology HotWires, as all sorts of nasty things happen as the ignition cable’s jacket under the metal braiding breaks down and eventually more and more spark energy is induced into the metal braiding, leaving little to fire the spark plug gaps.
ha, i have $20 autolite plug wires… i have the stock red ones, but i’m going to get new OEM wires one day. honestly i can’t tell a difference between any wire i’ve use.
I have yellow Accel plug wires, they were like $56 from JCWHITNEY who I hate and will never buy from again. No performance difference, but they look good. The fitment is not the greatest, and the rubber on each end of the wire is squishy and not stiff and rigid like the stock Sumitomos so it makes it a little more difficult to put it on to the spark plugs.
hmm… so accel’s dont fit good? ok…
no one’s gonna see gain in power with spark plugs unless the current plug wires were bad.
i’m thinking either Sumitomo’s or Magnecor wires…
MSD wires are too damned expensive ($90, from local store)
i’ve seen some NGK vs Stock wires dyno sheet and stock was smoother than NGK…
i had red sumitomo’s then i went to taylor pro series red no power increase (as expected) but the car overall ran smoother ( unexpected) i just bought them cause they were due and they come with a coil wire.
