Do you guys think its even worth it to pick up my friends old stock srt4 front mount intercooler. Like $25-50. How much psi/power would it be able to handle. Im gonna try and find some srt-4 enthusiast websites and ask how much the flow of the intercooler is and bring the information here.
I also have a friend with a RB20 that he abandoned the project and I was wondering if that turbo would be any good for say 8-10 psi or lower for everday driving. Also I already know its a T28 or T25 Im at his house now soo I’ll got check it out. I’d most likely rebuild the turbocharger. He is trying to sell the motot on the net and in local papers. Soo, I’m trying to get him to sell me his turbo b4 the motor sells.
Soo, if you guys could get back to me on these questions that would be great. Also for the flamers I have searched the whole intercooler ? on here w/ no luck. Imma also try honda tech for any results.
my friend has an srt and i think he said, if im not mistaken, that they can handle 300hp…thats if i remember correctly. either way if you think bout it, the srt come factory w/ 2–+ hp and the corp knows that they are gona boost it more, so in essence, yes, if i were u i’d get it. you should be fine til 280 at least if not 300
also that turbo is pretty decent, it spools real quick so its real ‘spunky’ if you will, but youll eventually wana upgrade to something bigger IMO
yea. thats what i thought about the intercooler. It will be with me for a while if I can get it from him. He need to ask his dad about it. But, I told him I’ll put his lowering springs on his car for free if he just gives me the intercooler.
yea, im still trying to convince my friend with the rb20det to let me buy the turbo off of him. he acts like the person who buys it wont be looking to upgrade the turbo anyways. imma offer hime like $80-$100 whatever i see them goin for on the internet. how much could i give him for it. And, it is indeed a T28 right? yay or nay. I need the A/Rs if you know them. Im bout to search google for the answers. but if you know the answers to my questions let me know anyways.
the intercooler will do just fine for your needs. that turbo is too small, you won’t be happy with it in the end, $100 is a bit much, I’d offer him $50, but it’s probably better that he keeps it with the motor
I would like to know the max for that neon fmic. Got any size specs on it? How big are the tubes?
i had the srt fmic in my crx for awhile. it can handle at least 350. i was pushing 18psi with a t3/t4 57 trim through it. i was around the 350 mark and no leaks and held fine. im saying go for it they look clean and thats a cheap price. IMO. but the turbo u will be happy with the quick response but as for power ull want alot more. trust me. lol the power will die off. but if u want somehting reliable and just to toy around with then go for it man. hope this helps out a lil. and by the way let us now what u decide.
well he wont sell me the turbo. says its not worth it for him. since he said no1 will want a rb20 w/o a turbo. well the intercooler is almost a done deal. what eclipse turbo or like saab or merkur turbo can find cheap on ebay that will have semi-quick spool up. and hold to about 7,000 or so if I get my rev-limiter raised. or should 6,500 be ok to get some power. what rpm should I be goin to.
those intercoolers suck, its prolly why those guys replace them ASAP
I had one planning to drop in a mx6, but they are no good, get a evo intercooler if you need a cheap one. placement and plumbing is a real bitch running one of those, have you even looked at it?
White90-Yea I read somewhere you got to run a restrictor on the oil feed line or something like that.
spoolinVolvo-yea. i knoe it might be hard to mount. its a rear inlet for the piping. but I think I can get it to work. with some 90degree coupler or of some extra werk. but have you ever used a srt4 intercooler. since the guy up there has and had good succes and you dont have any experience Imma go with his word. Not, that I’m sayin that you dont know what your talking about. Its just its cheap for me, right down the street from my house. And, sprayed4door said its good for him til about 350hp. But Imma use it for like a year til I get a 92 Bumper.
Doodman-Yea I have seen them on eBay, which one should i be interested in. I’m not sure.
im with integra hot on this one. t3 will work and have awesome spool time but im tellin u once u go boost u want alot more trust me lol i started with stock b16 at 8psi and jumped to 15 dd and man o man. now its fully built with bigger turbo. but IMO i think ull be happy with the t3 for the quick spooling. and yes the srt piping is a tad of a bitch. but it was harder for me cause i have a lovefab sidewinder manifold. hope i have been of some help
What cars come with the T3s stock that I could find at a junkyard? Yea I wanna get a turbo to set me at about 225-250 before going bigger. Soo, I might need a T3. right? or wrong? Also, I red 14B turbos are good on our motors. Whats the extent. I read they hold nice to redline and spool decently quick by 3,000rpms or soo. And, I think I read that it was full boost.
im saying t3 cause when u go to upgrade u dont have to worry about flanges on the manifold and all that. turbo coupes older volvos and some other cars came stock with t3s yea i t3 would easily net u around the 225 250 range. but dont forget what alot of people over look. make sure u have goooood tuning. ive seen pplenty of people make that mistake and boom it went. lol
yea. thats the only thing I dont have a good grsp on right now. there is a place my friend is getti his EK9 GSR turbo tuned at 15 mins from my town. Im goin to go to them. But, I think since Im OBD0 I have limitations to the program I use right. Like Uberdata, TurboEdit and what else is there for obd0. and, they do dyno tuning not street tuning, soo ill have dyno charts up, once my kit is together in a few months.
i dontbelive uber is for obd0 i may be mistaken though. i know turboedit, damnit i cant think of n e . i know theres like 4. the new version of turboedit is actually pretty good from what ive seen of it. my buddy has it on his laptop and seems to have pretty good features. u can go to pgmfi.org and find all the tuning softwares for obd0 though.
yea i know theres not alot of options for obd0. i usually just convert to obd1 and run crome. but now im running hondata. if u have the extra money i would just convert. ull get more and better options with obd1 and not as much of a hastle. worth it in the long run in my opinion
