I’ve been thinking of one to do a cheap backdoor setup. My question is do you think it would be worth the time? If needed I’ll go to a half core radiator to get the piping through. The dimensions is 24.5" W x 6" tall x 2.75" thick
Not the biggest but deff a good cheap backdoor setup
ur gonna get alot of people saying dont go back door, dont go cheap. U can be cheap and cost u more in the long run, OR u can resourse your turbo stuff that have good pricing, and are good quality.
make sure ur motor is in propper running order
\check compression, make sure there are no oil leaks, make sure it’s running healthy, when u go turbo, u just cant think of motor, prepare for urself for a clutch, axles. i can go on for ever.
i Persoanlly used a half rad only b/c i got it for 50 bucks brand new, otherwize i would of just used the full rad, i would only use a half rad if there is no room for a full one., but that also depends on the manifold, if u wanna keep a/c, p/s yada yada …this list is sooooo long,
my turbo set up was cheap, but i made sure the car was ready for it.
Im sure that intercooler will be fine. by doing a cheap setup im assuming your not going for 250+wheel hp. so, id say giver happy bootsing
Yeah, I have all of the motor stuff down. I just wanted to know pretty much what I have to and don’t have to do to do a backdoor setup.
well, other then the intercooler what do u have?
Everything but the FMIC and Piping and downpipe
Wideband and other gauges
T3/T4
Cast Manifold
I’m calling spoolin performance today or tomarrow for a Downpipe
tapped oil pan
Full exhaust
38 tial WG and dumptube
Hks ssqv bov and flange
Rx7 injectors
Vortech Fuel Rail
An assload of couplers
I’m probably forgetting a few things but it’s 6:15 Am here, can ya blame me?! lol
:dozing:im up at 6:00 in the morning too, but i dont have time to go on the COMP:dozing: lol
sounds like a good start, also look into these things if u dont have them
Oil lines, (May need restrictor)
clutch stage 2 or 3 will be good
new bearings in ur tranny if there starting to make noise.
one step cooler plugs
vacum ditribution box or a bunch of “T”'s
and a solid tune
i think that should cover most things. u should be ready to be boostin
im doing my buddies civic in march, he’s pretty excited gt25 turbo, black intercooler, BOV routed back into intake, she’s gonna be a sleeping 9 psi of boost
anyways enough of him, lol, cant wait to see pics of u getting started
I found one locally and was considering it. Since in need of a intercooler. I dont think the 90s out of the end tank will line up. Might want to measure first.
Hmmm, this is an interesting idea
the dimensions are good. if you can make it fit i say go for it. it’s most likely way better quality then a no name intercooler considering its a OEM piece.
Any intercooler will work. The only things you need to take into consideration are the piping and mounting of it. But why the back door? Is it just an idea you have or because you found one for cheap? Their are plenty standard intercoolers out there that are cost effective and work great. A Mishimoto that is close to those dimensions runs fairly inexpensive and is great for performance. Just keep in mind that you can buy a piping kit pre-fabbed for our cars for standard intercoolers. But running the backdoor setup will cost you for supplies, labor, and time.
a stock srt-4 fmic is perfect. i used it on my old turbo setup, good for a hmt setup.
well what i did is, i cut off the end tank that leads up to the intake mani side, and got it rewelded so it would be facing str8.
workout perfect. the hot side was leading srt8 into the inncooler bc if the backdoor. but i had to cut out a bit of the rad. support so it would fit flush comin through the bay.
