i got a b18a1 that i will be putting a b16 vtec head on. i will be using forged pistions. i want to boost it with 10-12psi.i will be renforceing the block. i want to know is i can take the stock rod and get them shot peened or should i go with forged rods?
If you have money for it, absoloutely go for forged rods. It will considerably help in bulletproofing your bottom end. Stock rods might be ok for 10 psi with a t3 or so, but forged will make it a lot safer. Since you are building it now, I would say definetly go for it.
Forged rods are def the way to go…just shot peening really doesnt give you any satisfactory gaurantee of a safer rod.
boost + ls/v + stock rods = good excuse to get a vtec motor
if u have the money go aftermarket rods… but i’ve made 400 hp on stock rods with no problems…
