StreetKnight408's 1990 Integra RS Build Thread

So I finally found time to make a build thread! So here it is. Basically, I got my Integra around June in 2009. Did a straight trade for my 1984 Ford Mustang GT. This Integra was in pretty bad shape. Got it lowered on stock TORCHED springs, a hole in the intake filter, ripped cv boots, had ricey ass tail lights, windows didn’t roll up; needed new cranks on both doors ripped shift boot, and needed an alignment BAD!.. But the goods were: it ran, it was 5spd, and it was fully registered. Here’s pics of when I got it the first day after I washed it.

After a few months, I got sick and tired of being too low to the ground… So I switched out the springs for some nice stock springs (temporary) And bought Some wheels with new tires.

Life just felt so much better. LOL! Then I replaced the window cranks, and did a valve adjustment, painted the valve cover, upgraded to slotted-dimpled rotors with ceramic brake pads, new exhaust, new stock intake, gsr blades, oem tail lights (had 90-91’s and got 92-93’s a few weeks ago), amber corners, hid kit, jdm yellow foglights, new clutch, and last but not least jdm side markers (used EG civic dome markers)

And Here’s the final product.

(the engine bay minus the stock intake, which i got a few weeks ago also.)

Engine:
-Ram Air Intake Mod
-Exedy Stage 1 Clutch
-OEM Flywheel
-Ebay N1 Style Exhaust Can angled

Exterior:
-Painted “Dohc” moldings
-JDM sidemarkers
-Amber corners
-Tow Hook
-GSR Blades

And that’s pretty much it to my little build thread. As of now, there hasn’t been any changes.

Future plans::rockon:
-B18c1 Engine Swap
-Paint Job
-Headers

looking good

lol nice plates. 375mph eh?

glad you got rid of the rice. those “lowering” springs look like what happens when i get ahold of those spiral office desk phone cords.

Yeah the 375mph plate has a small story. Was helping my dad out a few years back with putting invoices in rental glove boxes (Worked for GM and inspected cars) and I found that plate in a rental car! lol! so i said screw it, it’s mine! XD
And yes those springs were horrible.

@ darussian: Thanks man! Hopefully I can get out to a g2 meet!

I would get rid of the filter breather on the valve cover. It won’t do you any good.

Eh. I really just put it on for the look. XD Idk why I did. But oh well.
Kinda just wanted to clean up all the hoses everywhere. But that’s just my own preference.

Well the hose that connects from the valve cover to the intake does serve a purpose.

Your call if you want to put it on just for looks at the expense of other risks. Just giving you a heads up.

I really don’t want to sound too thick-headed to you, but if anything, I haven’t lost any oil. If i do lose oil, it’s every 1k miles or so, with the occasional stomping on the accelerator.
Sounds crazy, but I was losing a crap load of oil before I switched to the air breather. So far, I’m going about 2k miles on this oil change, and have only put HALF a quart of oil. But this info you gave me was definitely something to think about.

dawg! its me from EVC

nice car LOL

OH SHIT! HAHA!! The guy that parked next to me earlier today! Found my thread I see. XD

^^ Stalker! lol jk.

Good job with turning it around. Can’t wait to see the rest of the build.

LOL! I guess. >_> And thank you! Yeah me neither. It’s gonna be pretty sweet to see it lowered PROPERLY, on clean wheels, different color paint, and with another heart. But the swap isn’t going to be for a long time. If anything, I might just go ls turbo because it would be alot less expensive.

More parts!

So just last week I received a financial aid check. I went nuts and bought a few new toys for my lovely teg. The parts are:

NRG quick release kit with MOMO tuner series wheel
Beaks Lower tie bar in red (for da, eg, ek, dc)
Front strut bar
Rear strut bar

Now, the strut bars are basically megan racing look-a-likes. they’re from ebay and got them from the seller, DNA MOTORING. Their strut bars are actually relatively sturdy. And for some people who are wondering how I got the lower tie bar to fit, was through basically taking a drill bit that was slightly bigger than the holes on the brackets, and make the hole a little bit bigger so the lca bolts would go in with ease. So here’s the pics i took of all the finished products.

And don’t hate on my ghetto sub! LOL! House subwoofers got some bang and aren’t heavy for those that don’t like having hella dead weight in the trunks! haha

And sorry for the extremely huge photos! I don’t know how to change the settings on my iPhone. XD hahaha! But at least you’ll have really good pics that somewhat self explanatory.

So I haven’t gotten around to updating my thread. So far I have accomplished a couple of things here and there since my last update.

-I got an alarm finally! (Wanted automatic doors! lol)
-Painted My valve cover red. Tried to make it look somewhat dipped. Kinda failed though.
-I did a straight trade; my old gsr blades, for better condition LEGIT Mugen MR5’s 14" in size.
-Got into an accident. No longer have a red bumper or fake amber bumper lenses.
-Slapped on a black bumper from a 91 GS, and got amber bumper lenses on eBay.
-Deleted my a/c. Never got to use it; needed recharging, and plus i never had to use a/c.
-Got energry suspension motor mount inserts, and brand new OEM motor mounts.
-Relocated my ground wire. Mounted it on the driver side.
-Sporting G2IC stickers on my quarter windows.

And that’s all that I can remember for now.

My Mugen MR5’s

A few shots of how my ride sits with the new wheels. And how the new bumper looks.

Overall I think my car looks kinda cool with the black bumper. I don’t know if I should go 2 tone. black from the moldings down and leave the red on top alone. Give me feedback on that! XD

The Engine bay.

The new ground wire location (temporary until i find somewhere thats well hidden.)

stick with the single tone man, your builds come along way:up:

Looks so much better then when you first got it. Now it just needs a full exhuast. Keep it up man.

Blkack- ok I guess I’m staying with the single tone. And thanks!

91b18- thanks man! And full exhaust? You mean like a aftermarket catback? Or just an axle back in general? Cuz I have a magnaflow exhaust. Has an ITR style tip. It just looks hidden.

ORDERED FUNCTION/FORM TYPE 1’s YESTERDAY! DECIDED TO SLAP ON THE FREE LCA’S I GOT WITH THE PURCHASE, TODAY! =]

Yes, they’re PURPLE. Only REAL men rock the purple! LOL!

Comparison of old beat up lca’s to the new blox lca’s.

All four’s on the ground.

The myth on the bushings i dont think will happen. Just make sure to clean all mounting areas for the lca’s so they can move freely as you lift up your car and lower it. And the last myth about how lca’s are all look and dont cure camber: they actually reduced my camber by what looks like a good 1 degree from the naked eye. So overall, blox lca’s are pretty sick.

Function & form type 1 suspension

So friday Wek’ Sos received my type 1s I had ordered. I picked them up that day and waited for sunday for the installation. So today a friend, my little brother, and I went to work on the suspension. It wasn’t a big deal really. Adjusting the rear to have it sit a little higher was a tiny pain. I had measured 1.25 inches of exposed threads in the front, and 3 inches of exposed threads in the rear. Achieved a 1 finger gap that I had originally planned on going with. My thoughts on the type 1’s:

-If you wanna lower your car for a good price and don’t wanna hassle with coilover sleeves, get this full coilover system!
-For having approx 4 inches of ground clearance on all 4 jacking points (for lets say, a 2 pole lift) it rides extremely smooth. Actually runs a lot better than blown stock suspension. Coming from a guy that has experienced both torched springs (ricey) and stock setups, the coilover system is the shiznit!! hahaha! Function&Forms claim about how these are perfect for Daily Driving, is really true. Tomorrow I will be getting my alignment done. (specifically, zero-ing out the toe) and keeping the negative camber. (looks like maybe 1.5-2 degrees worth all around)

How tires sit in wheel well (not tucking)

gap in the rear
