Strut bar pics

I’m wanting to get a different strut. The current one I have is really close to that dashpot or whatever the hell that thing is called and I don’t want to bust it off so I’m looking for pics or other peoples strut bars that clear that thing. So throw up some pics. I’m not wanting to go expensive by any means since they all pretty much do the same thing.
Thanks
L.

SPOON Sports:

no problems with that dash pot thing? It looks like it clears it.
L.

Of course it clears. SPOON and Mugen parts might as well be OEM…many of their parts ARE OEM parts that have been modified.

Nice engine bay

Cusco fits ABS cars…

got mine off Ebay, put a tiny bend in the middle, now it clears the dashpot, doesn’t look ghetto, probably $20 shipped. The bend is just to the left of the dashpot, in the actual center of the bar. Just a small bend created a lot more space, and I highly doubt I compromised the structural integrity of the bar. Been over a year, no problems. See pic.

themilman, you know it’s bad to have a filter on you valve cover breather right? You’re impeding the proper functionality of your positive crankshaft ventilation system which will in turn shorten the life of your engine. It has all been discussed on the forums quite thoroughly on more than several occasions.

I know it looks “nice” but I think function is more important.

How does it impede the function of the PCV system? I’m just curious as to the theory because I’ve never heard this before, myself (also being a rice-filter running person).

edit: Sorry for jacking the thread!!!

The pcv system works by vacuum pulling the crankcase gasses out of the motor through the intake tube. When you just put a little filter on the valve cover there is no vacuum pulling the gasses out.

Close, but actually it flows in the opposite direction – it’s a commonly-believed myth that the valve cover breather sucks out the blow-by and shoots it into air cleaner assembly. One look at the HELM’s manual on the Positive Crankcase Ventilation system will set you straight, however.

What actually happens is the intake provides fresh air that goes through the crankcase, mixes with blow-by, and is then sucked back into the intake manifold through the PCV valve.

Having the valve cover breather connected to the engine’s air intake provides the necessary pressure for proper PCV functionality. You may not notice any problems within short-run (even several years), but it may cause problems down the road. The key element to the entire system is that it uses POSITIVE PRESSURE to ventilate the crankcase. When one hooks up a filter to the breather port it takes away that positive pressure.

Sorry if my previous post was brief and I didn’t explain myself. I woke up rather early and was in a hurry to get to my friend’s house and change my motor mounts. I’m going to try to do a write-up on that because it was a royal pain in the ass and both my Haynes and HELM’s manual simply state “Remove mount” and do not take some things into account. As the first major work I’ve ever personally done on my own car, it was quite a learning experience.

EDIT: By the way, DO NOT EVER BUY THE HAYNES MANUAL – it is the most worthless piece of shit manual EVER. It doesn’t even state correctly how much oil should be put in during an oil change.

EDIT[2]: We need a smiley for beating a dead horse.

So stated in a different way: The pressure difference between the intake manifold and the intake tube at partial throttle causes air to be pulled into the PCV system and sucked into the intake manifold through the PCV valve. Therefore, the major cause of long-time engine failure would be that I have installed a $7.00 APC air breather filter to be used in place of getting air that came from a $40.00 K+N air filter. I get the point now. So oil in the intake from the fresh air tube would mean put a new PCV valve in or put a trap on the fresh air tube.

edit: agian, sorry for jacking the thread. Now that my current dumbass session is overwith we can get back to strut bar pictures.

i have a rice filter. I have a turbo.

have a nice day :ghetto:

Only 2 Pics?

That’s weak.

Just installed the Vision Bar on Saturday to replace my old ebay bar…

Neuspeed bar owns all!

NICE!!! That looks sweet. I need to pick me up one of those.

Knowledge, where the hell can you get a Spoon bar? Is it for a different Honda that fits the teg?

the spoon and vision look identical…

i tried a cusco adjustable tubular bar and it didn’t clear the abs block. am probably gonna get a spoon one i think as it’s the only one i can get hold of - it’s actually the same as for the EF (4th gen) civic iirc

The spoon and vision are the same thing, same people made them. the only difference are the brackets, one says “spoon” and one say “vison”
