Strut bar pics

The Neuspeed bar works really well on our '90 RS Integra. Handling is much improved over the first Integra I ever had (a '90 GS with same suspension, less Neuspeed bar because of ABS). The only thing about the Neuspeed bar is it won’t work with ABS equipped Integras because the ABS system is in the way on the passenger side suspension mounting point. That is too bad because it’s the only solid design [non-hinged “strutbar” design] that I know of. You really don’t want hinges in a force transfer bar…

:bump: :bump: :bump: came across this thread and wanted to keep it alive.

First Gen spoon bar…have the rear one too but no pictures of it…:bump:

so the neuspeed clears the abs boxy thing for sure? are there specific w/abs and wo/abs models, or is there only one?(all pertaining to 2nd gens)

Edit: Here is my contribution to this thread, other than the above.

No complaints on the looks of it, its the prototype, not the final. And it works.

god damn right it does.

who cares about the looks? i’ve seen DIY attempts WAY less refined than that.

what are the odds of contracting another once you get into the final version? i’d definitely be interested now that password has failed us yet again.

You can buy 3 point strut bars here.

I take the above as a real compliment, thanks.

I am thinking of redesigning it, I don’t like how the pass side is mounted. When I do, I will consider making others for a small fee. (cover shipping, the stock, and wire for the welder) Its all iron, no SS fyi. I would guess the hardest part, is that there is a plate behind the firewall, you take the cowl off to get it back there. I have it riveted to the firewall. Then the bolts sandwich the firewall between the tri mount and the plate iron. The rivets keep the plate from moving, or falling if you take it off.
Here is a closeup of the drivers side, and the passengers side. I want to triangulate the pass side, and I don’t like the angles on the drivers side (one is almost 90 degrees)

Those rivets are insane, the air rivet gun I have, could barely pop them, and the gun is pretty heavy duty.

I have also made a lower tie bar out of the same material, nothing fancy, but functional. My current project is recreating the center beam (connects the front and rear cross members) and adding a skid plate to keep my oil pan and ITR header out of the asphalt.

That looks sweet!!! Great job!!

Thanks! (assuming your referring to me) Just don’t look too close at the welds. Stupid wire feed was catching while working on the tri-bar, finally figured out why it was messing up, but not until I had almost finished my exhaust last month. #@$&^*!!!1one!

Yep, that was directed towards u!!

and when they show what the DA bar looks like, i’ll consider it. until then, i’ll look elsewhere. not intended to be a slight toward the company at all, i just don’t like purchasing sight unseen is all.

That’s why I’m gonna just go with the neuspeed. Everyone says its good and they can be had for a reasonable price. And they look nifty!!!

I wonder about those explicit speed 3 point bars. Its the only one made for the DA but yet no one has them. Why is that? I figured people would jump all over the first 3 point bar made for the DA but this doesnt seem to be the case with these. I would buy one in a second but I have ABS. I’m looking to convert though so I’ll definitely pick one up after I change over to non-ABS.

Mark, if your interested why not just email the company? I’m sure they could supply you with some pics of the bar mounted in a DA if you asked.

According to the email I just received from explicit, they do not make a 3-point bar for DA’s, only a 2-point.

apparently for the same reason password never did one–there are no pre-existing holes upon which to mount the bar, so rather than just include a drill (“drill bit” for those with less machining experience ;)) and tap it’s easier to just not try and make something.

Then they really need to fix their website. Unless there is another DA that is not an integra that they are referring to.

On another note, I wonder if this is worth it: explicitspeedperformance.net (not what would constitute the rear upper strut bar, but the X over the spare tire area) Reading that page, I would bet that the square stock they use, is the same as the square stock I used. Mild Steel. Though the iron yard I bought mine from sells it as “Iron”. But then again, they sell Aluminum as “Rustless Steel”, so…

that info on their website is exactly why i emailed them. here’s all the traffic, most recent (their reply) is on top, with my original email on the bottom:

Hello, thanks for the inquire. We can only do 2 pts for the DA I need to change the site around when I can. No prevision on the firewall for the 3 pt and definetly wouldn’t work with the ABS models. -John

Hello.

I’m interested in the 3-point DA front strut tower bar you have listed on
your website, but cannot find photos of it anywhere. Could you send some to
this email address? Thank you very much!

Given the serious grammar and spelling errors, even if this guy did offer a DA 3-point i’d be extremely hesitant to purchase from him. his emails have the grammatical air of a Nigerian scam. :uhoh:

Hahaha, nice. Glad I found out now insted of later, guess I will get the Spoon insted.

Those guys are sounding kinda dumb over there.

maybe they forgot to use the mask when welding and it fried their brain a little.

I wouldnt blow them off just because their grammar sucks. I have personally seen their H22 DA mounts and they were very nice pieces. I havent seen one of their bars in person yet, but if you can weld mounts you should be able to do the same with strut bars. Even if they dont make a 3 point for a DA, they still have front upper, rear upper, and rear lower bars that are all solid one piece bars. Besides Neuspeed I dont think anyone makes a front upper one piece bar for the DA, although it still looks like theirs wont work with ABS either. As far as the rear is concerned the only lower one piece bar I have ever seen were Benen’s and they are now out of business. And I dont believe a company has ever made a rear upper one piece bar for the DA. Well except for Ben, but he doesnt count.

I still think they are worth checking out despite their grammatical errors.
