In need of some assistance again. I have fixed all problems but this one. Before I get started I will list all things that I have checked and double checked. I have done many compression tests, leak down test and have gotten a basemap from xenocron. I still am running rediculously rich. Not black smoke but grey vapor that smells like nothing other than gas and I mean nothing else. The cylinders are all soaked with gas. I have replaced the FPR thinking it was that. I have had the 440s out while in the fuel rail and have turned it over to see if any of them stuck open. I have turned on the car without turning the car over to see what kind of pressure I get. My gauge says I have 40 psi and at partial throttle it jumps to 50+ but at idle it is at 40ish. I have noticed that when I turn the car off the FP gauge drops to 0 in a matter of 3 mins. I have also noticed that the fuel pressure will drop with the ignition on and the car off . This tells me there is a leak but I can not find it. Should I try an aftermarket fpr so that I can adjust the fp and hope that the aftermarket one is better than the OEM replacement. I have put a vacuum gauge/tester on the new one and the valve doen’t open so that might be it. If anyone here has any thoughts let me know. Thanks
If you already changed the FPR, changing it to an adjustable unit will not fix your problem. Swap out your injectors or have them cleaned.
yeah that is my next guess. But what I don’t get is that I did not have this problem before the rebuild and now I have this problem. What should I clean them with…seafoam or throttle body cleaner. It seems that even after turning down the pressure it still smokes and is running stupid rich. If that is not the problem could it be a ground or resistor box. The injectors look like dsm except they have soft rubbery tips instead of hard ones like other dsm’s that I have seen. They are blue tops. I have been getting gas from a gas station that is now notorious for having water in their gas but that doesn’t explain the gas in the oil.
Talked to a performance shop today all three guys that I talked to said to check the map sensor. I haven’t had the time to get a voltmeter on it but I did disconnect it from the harness and the car died. Then I started it with it plugged up and pinched off the vacuum and nothing happen. Should anything happen
