Is it unscrewed or force fit? I don’t see threads on the metal bar. I’m sure I can model that without issue. I haven’t been able to get a chance to go thru my stash for my spare visor. I’ll try to do that tonight.
With respect to printing, I have grey ABS material but it won’t match the OEM color. I do have a swatch list at home and will see whether there’s a closer match. Are you able to tell if the piece is hollow or solid? i.e. are you able to see inside that crack?
I pulled off my passenger side one. It is also cracked. I forget what that clip is called but it locks the spring in, it isn’t a screwed on.
I was planning to wake up early tomorrow to work on the cowl screw, so I will work on this while the prototype is printing.
Stay tuned.
I decided to see whether this was even possible.
Will need to be creative with the assembly after cutting.
looks great. i hope it will fit snug
I think it would really be better to reuse the metal rod, spring, and locking washer. But I don’t believe I have a spare set to take apart.
I am thinking about using PETG material for that broken piece because it’s better than ABS in terms of tensile strength.
i would agree with that since the metal rod and spring still function properly its just that dang plastic piece that is making my visor swing around. i guess i could swap out the one on the passanger side but then passanger has the same problem lol
ohh i just saw that you designed a whole visor too. that would be bad ass tbh
The center hole is tapered, so the fit isn’t right. I have to make some edits.
cool ![]()
good luck with the edits
I made the edit already but had to go out of town this weekend – came back later than expected.
I’m also going to re-make that visor into a frame/skeleton. It is too cumbersome for me to deal with two plates for one visor. I’ve already looked into fabric templates to cover the skeleton.
if you need someone to test them ill do it. i assume id have to pay you for shipping and stuff tho
I had limited time this morning given that I worked on the insurance. I’m printing v2 right now with the tapered hole.
I accidentally broke the mirror of my visor that I removed. Sigh. I don’t use it anyway but still – frustrating. Will post results ASAP.
I am extremely pleased with the fit. Will install and test over a few days to see how it fares in hot weather.
If anyone lives in cold climate, and you’re willing to help test this, please reply. No cost except for shipping.
I need to use new screws though. My current screws are worn out.
hell yeah looks exactly the same. dam thats sucks about your mirror tho ![]()
I’m going to look into getting new locking washers and springs too. I’ll give this about a week’s use and then pop it off to see whether there is any damage.
This is printed in ABS silver on a “strength” setting.
