Syncromesh for your trans

Change the fluid in your trans to a fluid called “Syncromesh”. This fluid is made for GM manual transmissions, i.e. Chevy S10’s.
I have a 92 GS with a YS1 cable transmission. Now I was very skeptacle about doing this but my friend, with a 92 gsr, highly recommended me to make the change and he guaranteed that at the least, my trans will not grind as bad if I changed to syncromesh. Another friend of mine also recommended that I make the switch because he told me his friends DC2 stopped grinding after using it.

So I made the change and I couldn’t be any happier. My transmission stopped grinding. Don’t ask me how it works just know that it does. Also, FYI the fluid seems slightly thinner than 10w30 motor oil.

yea it defenitely works. it really helps out the syncros in your trans(nise the name of the product). lil expensive but defenitely worth it.

where to get this product?

how much mileage have u guys run on this stuff? i’m worried about any possible long-term side effects :open_mouth:

This stuff is liquid gold… when I did my clutch I put this in the tranny and my grinds in 2nd & 3rd have been gone for almost a year and still counting.

Chunk

um…a GM dealer?
:stuck_out_tongue: thats where i get mine its about 45 bucks for 3 qts.

and make sure you get the friction modified. the other is just 10w30 in a GM bottle

guys… i went to the honda-tech forum and did a search there… i only see this being used by people with LSD trannys (hence the friction modifier)… is this safe for non-LSD?

yes.

this has been discussed many times before. if you guys searched you would know.

as for mileage… i have had it in my car for about 9-10mths with no problems at all.

also if you search there is a similiar product that you can buy at like autozone or the like that is the same, but in a different bottle/name.

here is just one of the many post on this topic, it also shows that its a rebottled product.

enjoy.

Yeah, I just threw this in my tranny yesterday, and this morning, it definately helped out my tranny’s feel in cold weather. usually it has to struggle to go from gear to gear in the cold, or when first warming up, but not anymore!

the stuff at autozone is syncromesh… u think gm would make there own fluid?.. penzoil makes it for them… i havent gotten around to putting it in my car but soon im gonna being winter is coming up and everything on my car works less in the winter… motor tranny and all do stupid shit when it gets cold out

dude i added this shit and now my tranny grindes worse then before it grinds in 1st and the axle clicks like a mofo and teh clutch pops none o this stuff happened before i did that…am i retarded? What did i do wrong? oh crap…maybe i didn’t tighten down the bolts enough…what are the symptoms of a tranny without enought oil.

and how would tranny fluid effect a axle?(axles dont use fluid)

its posable its leaking out… or u didnt put enuf

no enough= grinds

make sure you level the car when filling it up
axle clikcing is ur axle replace em…$60

gotcha i knoew that DUh …<----woah im slow HAHAH thanks guys! i got the car all jacked up right now ready to go i still got extra synchromesh left over and axles are only 60 bucks!!! where at?! how easy is it to change them…i’ll just do a search

very easy
i would say mabe 1-130 for a frist time like me…
i still havent done it myself yet

i know somoene that can do it in 45mins lol

this stuff works OK, it’s not gold in a bottle though, I went from clean Honda MTF to syncromesh, the tranny is still notchy but I can definately slip it into gear faster than before, so it won’t make a huge difference, but it helps.

i’ll second that. it’s not THAT awesome, but it definitely helps.

You can get the axles at Kragen. Big-O will do the installs for you if you don’t want to mess with it.

i did both axles i a hour there is actually a perfect install write up on here or ti, it is easy, besides getting the axle nut off,(airgun)
