synthatic or regular oil

hi my tuner guy told me to use regular oil for my turbo set up is a 97 gsr engine .But i read couple articals told me different it says to use synthatic im very confuse can any1 help me thx

After searching on Garrett’s website and on Turbonetics website, I didn’t find anything. Contact Turbonetics at (805)-581-0333 and see what they recommend.

I would personally use Royal Purple or Red Line oil, which are both synthetic.

I would also recommend checking out www.lelube.com. I’ve seen this oil in action compared to many of the popular oils out there. The guy Steve that owns the company is cool, and makes from what i’ve seen, a damned good product that very few people know about. I stood there and watched it out perform Royal Purple, which is by no means an easy task.

thx

This is how I look at it… Your boosting on your engine which means your putting that much more wear and tear on the engine alone right? Even if you build it 110% bulletproof, its still taking a beating. Run regular oil (Kendal or Vavoline) and change it every 2.5k - 3k and cut open the oil filer and see what you got inside

just my .02 cents!

Mobile 1… Best synthetic you can get… nothing but damn good oil! If its good enought for Indy Car, Cart, and F1, its gotta be good enough for a turbo Teg.

not all oils are true synthetics. Castrol is only filtered to synthetic specs. But I like it anyways.

jdmjerk i didnt understad ur reply .So u prefer syn or reg:salute:

oh sorry jdmjerk. Can u tell me wats inside the filter after 2-3k of reg oil use thx

If Royal Purple, Red Line, or Leading Edge was no longer available, I would definitely be running Mobile 1. Until then, i’ll stick to what i’ve seen back-to-back tested with accurate friction and oil film strength testing devices.

P.S.- Mobil 1 is a pretty damned good oil.
