hey guys… im a first time booster here and i wanted to know which would be more reliable and more cash efficient… a dsm t25 or a garrett t28 on a b16 with stock internals… i plan on pushing 7-8 psi… which would produce more power? and i would like to know some setups u guys have regarding both turbos… (what kinda fuel map are u using? ecu? fuel injectors? etc.) thanks alot u guys…
also side topic… would u guys know anywhere in LA where i can get some ITBS machined for my b16a1?
well im sure DSM 450’s would be enough along with the stock map sensor unless you plan on running enough boost to blow your stock motor. and ecu use which one is in the car along with a rom editor such as turboedit or ghettodyne
well i dont plan to blow my stock motor… but i know its always a possibility when using over 7psi of boost with stock internals…
wouldnt using ctr or itr cams raise compression? the way i see it is that it would just make it easier for my motor to blow…
alright so what im hearing is… t3 turbo + dsm 450cc injectors + stock map sensor + stock ecu with rom editor = sexy?? how much would this run me?
btw… can someone help me find out what my ecu is? my b16(a1) came from a da6 front clip… its obd0… stock fuel cut off is set to 180km/h (110hp)… redline is 8k…
t28’s can get pretty big…maybe u guys are forgetting that alot of them are ball bearing. look at hks gt2835’s or garrett gt28r’s. they are way more than any stock 4cyl honda motor should need. i run a greddy setup which has a td05, very similar to a t25. the greddy 18g turbo is good for over 300hp if done right.
the ecu will say on it what it is.
When you use the same turbocharger and compare it to an engine that has completely different characteristics, its not going to behave in the same fashion most, if not all of the time.
We all love the 4G63 engine. Hell, I had 2 of them myself. But you have to remember, that a b16 engine is a higher revving, lower displacment engine that has a cylinder head that can outflow a DSM head if it had PnP work!!. The B16A or B does not possess a lot of torque (thereby giving it the name “torqueless wonder”). that means you can’t use the same principles of use of a T28 or T25 nor use those characteristics… Its not the same.
Now the GT series a bit different, even though the flanges and turbines are of similar size. They use completely different wheel configurations in conjunction with the ball-bearing cartridge. Those can work on a B16 with much better results.
Not trying to shit on anyone, just BE CAREFUL when comparing apples to oranges on engine configurations for a possible turbocharger match.
