tail light leak-- how to remove water from tail lights?

got the old gaskets and the tail lights out, how do i get the water out of the tail lights though?

I’m assuming you removed the bulbs and let the water flow out, but now you’re having some trouble with the residual water.

What I’ve done is take a blow dryer, aim it at one of the bulb holding areas and just let the hot air dry it out.

tyvm. exactly what i was looking for.

i just let it all evaporate, since its sunny around here i just let it do its thing and it took care of itself.

you’re lucky it’s only water… I’ve got 2 dead insects stuck in my tail lights. Stupid insects! I’ll post pictures if you guys wanna see.

i for some reason have the urge to see this.

Here’s the tail light that’s “bugging” me.

Weird. I had a dead yellow spider in mine. I flushed it out.

How did you flush it out?

lol now thats funny

I have water between the lens and bulb area how do i fix it from leaking again?

You guys are lucky. lol I’ve got clear tails and my passenger side one has some sort of green mold all along the bottom of it. Both of them have had water in them for a long time. Looks nasty but I’m getting black altezza’s anyways so I’m not gonna bother cleaning them until I put those on.

dj_justice,
It is very possible that your taillight gasket has rotted out or cracked with age. I would replace that first (get the OEM gasket from Honda, it’s worth it.) If you have opened your taillights (to clear them, etc.) you may not have sealed them correctly. I used a lot of clear silicone, and didn’t remove much of the old sealant, just let it stay. I believe that the old sealant helps, as one of my tails I scraped most of it out and just put new silicone in and it leaks. If you don’t want to do either, buy some black duct tape and tape the seam where the taillight meets the body, making sure no water can get under the tape. Ghetto, but you can’t see it with the trunk closed, and it keeps my improperly sealed taillight nice and dry

Everyone with bugs and dirty stuff needs to go out and buy the Castrol super clean stuff. a couple cups of water and 5-7 squirts of it. Woosh it around and it will get rid of the nasty dirty. I will also get rid of those nasty pink lines making them nice and white!!!
