anybody know the stock psi on a tdo5 internal wastegate?? can i boost 10 psi on my stock b20v?? I got everything i need to start but this is just setting me back not knowing.
it is 10-12psi…and yes with proper tuning you can boost 10psi on your B20…although a professional dyno tuning session is going to be required to actually run reliably
can i lower the boost on the wastegate with a boost controler?? or is it set at 10 psi
The strength of the wastegate spring is the lowest you can go, so 10 psi in this case.
10psi !!! i just don’t know any other way to drop it back down to 7-8 psi?? How much power will i get out of 10 psi anyway?? 300??? hehehe
sorry but u guys are wrong, i personally have a greddy tdo5h-18g turbo on my jdm gsr swapped DA. the stock boost settin for this waistgate is 5.5 psi. with a manual boost controller u can turn it up but not down. so ur range is from 5.5 or about 6psi up to whatever u want, i turn mine down to like 7 for normal driving and up to 10 on weekends. hope this helps, 10psi is def. not the stock waistgate setting for this turbo so if ur not sure, dont give false info. we want this guy to succeed in his setup not be told false info. btw get a boost controller so u know what ur runnin and adjust from there. a b20 should be good for like 12 psi safely with a good tune, prob. even more. seeya
If you want to lower the boost from the factory wastegate setting you will need to take a section out of the swing arm. Which means shorten it. cut it and reweld it and your good.
thanks for all the info guys i’ll see when i put the turbo on and find out i’ll keep you post on to process
i have a tdo5h and with the stock wastegate im boosting 7-7.5 psi consistently.
NO B20’s have 1 peice sleeves. U WILL RUIN THAT BLOCK AT 10 PSI!!!
DO NOT BOOST THAT HIGH, THE MOST IS 5-6.
Boost as much as you want. You won’t have “1 piece” sleevs for long.
First off, I was just going along with what the previous person said about the wastegate being 10 psi or whatever. My 14b wastegate spring is 9 psi, so I figured it was similar. Second, chopping a piece out of the wastegate arm and rewelding it won’t lower boost. Shortening the arm makes the wastegate flapper tighter. What some people do is loosen the wastegate to achieve lower boost, but that is not right to do. You won’t build full boost as early as you should if the wastegate is hanging open. And lastly, I think it’s stupid to put a max amount of boost that a motor can handle.
will a block guard help this problem i got one on the way with a new apexi headgasket. i would like 8 psi through thats all i’m trying to set it at. i trying not to blow up my motor!!! just looking for some answers sp i can start with something to not do and do any info will be great.
the b 20 is not a good stock motor for boost. As far as i know, u will need a rebuild eventually no matter what. Convert your tdo5 to external wastegate and get a 5 or 6 psi spring. Talk to someone with a boosted b20 on exactly what do.
Hey B18Cteg your turbo is set at 5-6psi because you have a GREDDY turbo …the td05’s that come off of eclipses and sr20’s have a stock setting of around 10psi i have 2 of these turbos sitting in my garage and a third that was on my EK so before you go mouthing off that i dont know what im talking about think that not everyone has a GREDDY turbo that came off some turbo kit that was DESIGNED to run at low boost
