Moar!!!
These cams have a weird light cross hatch pattern on them. I tried to get a good pic but couldn’t…
Fuck yeah bro! Type AAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH everything. Brakes are lookin nice as well.
Can I request your old calipers for Craigs teg? he has a seized caliper lets get some tegs runnin in colorado!
Hells ya man. So JDM my blood is type-r!
Thanks yea those brakes have been a pain in my ass!!!
Yea man I’d love to contribute to getting craigs teggy going again! I should have all the stuff still. My garage is a fucking mess though from all the work being done it’s hard to keep it with any kind of order lol.
Hey do you know if the radius arms for the stock front crossmember are the same or are they different? I’m pretty sure they match but not 100%. I ask because Brad with the AGP gsr from the meet needs it and I might have tossed an arm lol…
Radius rods are the same, right to left, RS GSR LS etc. GSR or LS everything is the same except for slight difference in crossmember for brizzace and obvious other differences.
Lookin’ good! Wish I would have been paying attention before, ya know you don’t need to shave the caliper brackets, you can just use Mini rotors and it all lines up proper. Or, just get a 3mm spacer. Either is easier than the shaving…
Did you get that ITR from HMO? Probably got the last one the other day. I called to order one for myself and he said they’d just sold out
Thanks buddy!
I thought about doing mini rotors. Probably should have!
Did not even know about the 3mm spacers exist. Does that just go under the rotor on the hub?
Yep, yep I did. Steve even told me that a local had been asking about that motor. Now I feel bad. Planning on popping on a new timing belt tonight and dropping it in shortly. Hopefully my buddy can get his engine lift sometime soon!
I’m pretty excited to have this gsr running again it’s been so long.
The Mini rotors have been working well for me so far. They’re slightly smaller but it doesn’t seem to matter, the big benefit is the cost and ease of finding replacements - which is important for me since I track the car and will go thru rotors faster than the average bear. And yes, the 3mm spacer just goes behind the rotor - Hella Flush yo!
That local must have been someone else, I had heard they always have a LOT of stock so I lagged and called only a few days before I was planning on picking up. I called and he said the last one had sold the previous day. It’s probably for the best anyway, I think I was getting excited and getting ahead of myself. I’ve since decided to take a little hiatus while I figure out what route to take to get my car back together. Until then she sits in the garage with a big hole in the block
I’ll let you know about the motor and how it performs. I plan to track the car a bit
Per the rotors I just ordered the 11" legend rotors with the 4x100 pattern from fast brakes. Decent price and they are nice rotors as far as I can tell.
I wish I’d have known about the spacer. Grinding down those brackets sucked the big one!
Steve said that he’s getting a shipment this month so I’d check with him and see. I also know a guy in Cali that can get motors on the super cheap if you want we can get ahold of him.
I need to press my new bushings into my innovative transmission mount. $126 bucks for a full set of innovative with 75a bushings. Can’t beat it!
Don’t leave her in the garage too long buddy. I thought I’d take it slow with mine and she ended up in there for 3 years with no motor
What’s the story with your Cali motor hookup? It’s worth looking into at least. I’m still trying to decide whether I want to wait for a good deal on an ITR longblock or if I want to find another b17a block and just rebuild that. Overall cost will probably be about the same either way and power output should be about the same as well. I like the idea of keeping the b17a since the chassis is a DB2, plus in CA it always helps for smog to have a USDM motor and better if its from that chassis. I think a freshly imported ITR would be a good candidate and likely very reliable, but I’m still wary since it’s used.
I feel ya on the long builds. It took me a long while to get mine back on the road again after retiring it from daily driving once I bought a different DD. Originally I wanted to swap something immediately so I could get to the rest of the HFF events this year but with work as busy as it is and all the other normal life obligations I decided it was best to just take a break, take my time, and do it right (there are lots of other loose ends to wrap up). Right now I’m hoping I’ll have it back together by the end of the year, but that still might be pushing it depending on how much time I have and how deep I wanna go into the car as a whole.
I’ll see if he’ll do it. He’s a nismo guy and talks mad shit for me being a honda guy lol. He probably will though. I’ll let you know what he says.
So why is it hard to get a JDM motor smogged? It’s from an integra, a newer one at that in most cases. The b17 would be cool. I kind of regret not just rebuilding mine and going for it all crazy but oh well. jdm type-r motor will fit a db2 just fine.
Man yea. I’m trying to get this car going because right now I’m daily driving a 92 db2 lol. I feel terrible putting miles on her. I need to do clutch timing belt both pumps starter ac ps and figure out why she’s smoking. I think it’s just valve seals but it’s still torture not having the option to take her apart. My neighborhood doesn’t permit working on cars in driveways. So till this one is done and I can drive her, I can’t do the critical maintenance type stuff. Pretty frustrating. I’m glad that I am finishing the car though. It’s in such good shape it is a shame she sat so long…
Coming along nice
Thanks brotha! Hopefully this week we can get the demon heart put into her… Glynn finally able to get his cherry picker from our buddy who was unable to open his garage door.
Timing belt is going on tonight. Finishing brakes and such and cleaning transmission. Last step is to find the bolts to hold that thing in…oh and put my new bushing into my trans mount.
UH UH UH UPDATEEEEE!
New throwout bearing + spring. Cleaned transmission (looks dirty still… i know stfu…) and timing belt! Need to torque sh!t down tonight clean a little more and prep it for the drop-in!!
Lookin good broham! R in place by end of week yes?
Looking good Troy. Jelly of the R.:burnout:
Getting the teggy crew going for the summer. Excited!
Good god do I ever hope so! Need to put one more bolt on and throw wiring harness on. Put d/s motor mount upper on and then drop it in.

Hehe thanks brah!!! I’m really stoked to have this thing running.
In other news I need some help making a choice guys! My current daily is a 92 gsr. Salvage title but only because the car was stolen, bumper hood fenders and doors were stolen. Has the original floormats, has a damn near mint interior. I’m thinking of doing a motor over haul: t-belt/water & oil pumps ac recharge/convert and valve seals. After that I’m on the fence of if I should sell it or not. Thoughts?
Lookin damn good. Type-R motors are fun
Thanks, to you and Glynn for the over the phone assistance, earlier. Believe I’ve pinpointed the problem. Keep up the good work, man.
Keep the other gsr man. Why do all that work and then sell it?
Type R in yet?
Mmmm… Type-R!
Updates!
Before we get to the pictures. I’m literally 2 mounts in. The rear mount is connected, and the front trans mount is connected. The top trans mount and the drivers side mount are not lining up. I went and x-referenced the part numbers. The mounts from innovative are all the same except the driverside which is for a gsr. I’m at a loss as to why it won’t line up. It’s like the motor is sitting way back and towards the passenger side too far. The only difference is the Type-r has a different part number for the rear T-Bracket.
imcnblu- Glad to help out bud!
rollinmyda- Good point but at the same time I have a kid. I want to get him a dirtbike when he’s a little bigger…
unified112- Ty I’m excited.
I’m so fricken close. It’s sitting in there…just needs 5 bolts done. H()#RHO{QI@owkiaehfp[ha302dah9032a3290
